aye, that's it - souness and thompson didn't get on....and with souness, it was hughes (and a few others i suspect).

Souness and Hughes got on well. Souness visited him a lot while he was ill and was at the Funeral.

Well that's a few quid going to good causes (local) then, but like many have said this isn't a big deal if anything it will bring the lads closer together.

Can you imagine the rocket Carra put up there arses when they all met up again.

Oh, I was thinking about that and wondering if it were me, would I be more afraid of seeing Rafa or Carra again?

Weren't Ray Kennedy and Jimmy case offloaded because of their fracas in a pub in wales with the locals?
I seem to remember over the years this was talked about.
Although not related to a bust-up I also remember Clemo having something to do with Tom O'Conner's daughter or something.

Half right, I think.

Case was having an affair with Ray Clemence's wife -- though I don't know if that's why he had to leave.

Meanwhile Clemence was busy getting O'Connor's daughter pregnant, which was exactly why he had to leave.

So when Clemence had to leave the club, his wife insisted on Spurs so that she would be close to Case who by that time was down at Brighton.

If he hasn't spoken to him he should keep his fucking gobshut, fucking poking his nose in our teams business the fucking pansy prick

MGP - what a dick.  What does he know of any previous 'party culture' in England?!

I hope you're joking when you say that. Professional footballers do NOT go out drinking and hitting each other with golf clubs. These players earn 50-grand a week to remain disciplined and healthy and win us, their wage-payers, some fucking trophies.

I have nothing wrong with the lads going out for a drink when they have some time off.  I also have no problem if not every member of the squad gets on with one another as long as they work as a unit on the pitch - do you like everyone at work?  If the lads have an argument, it's not problem to me as long as it doesn't show on Wednesday night (it won't).

And i'm also presuming that many of the details were blown well out of proporton.  I wouldn't exactly be happy if Bellamy had quite literally been beating JAR with a golf club.

From the sensible opinions shared on here, well i'm quite comfortable with all that has happened.  Yes it's not wonderful, and you actually hear about very few off-field disputes between team-mates (primarily because the clubs are good at keeping details privvy), but it's human, and yes, if this was the stars music industry, it would be celebrated

Sounds like things were blown out of proportion. Hope that's the case. Then all this negative media attention can work in our favour.

According to my sources, John Arne Riise has recommended Craig Bellamy to Everton. Talking to Moyes, he says the Welshman's great at beating defenders, especially with small clubs.

Bellamy apparently hit Riise in the right foot. Riise spent 20 minutes wondering what the fuck had just happened.

Kaizer rang him and explained that statistically, 100% of the time, it's his right foot.

It worked then! ;) ;D

Got this from a mate who was at the match last night (lucky bastard just happened to be in Barca on business).

Was actually staying in the same hotel as your team. Messrs Riise and Bellamy seem to get on rather better than the media would have us believe, both on and off the pitch. Have got some good video clips.

If they hadn't there is no chance Bellamy would have celebrated like that. Proof enough that the media were making half of it up.

true - and the other evidence is that Riise and Bellamy loooked fine together....and also that Craig said that if it had been as bad as it was made out in the papers, he wouldn't have been picked last night.

Rafa's interview with the Spanish Radio this morning was the most instructive piece of information about this whole sage (aside from the fact the he picked the alleged protagonists for the game).

He said the players fined themselves and made it higher than he was going to. He also says that the players themselves choose to stay at Melwood when they fly home so they can rest better and train earlier the next day so it's great to see the levels of professionalism with the camp.

He also says that part of the reason was that a mini bus got lost and made one group late.

He confirms that nothing was broken and basically it was  alot of fuss made about nothing.

Great interview.

bigbear, that is great to hear.  Hope i can find that interview somewhere.

After reading the Echo, and found two great bits of info.

The players are a tight unit, because after any goal we scored, there was to be a specific celebration for Craig Bellamy's kid's 10th birthday.  craig says:
“it’s my boy’s tenth birthday, so that was for him. If anyone scored, that celebration was part of the deal.”

the second great bit of info:  Momo Sissoko’s shin injury is not considered too serious.

What is it with Riise´s and karaoke? :)

http://expressen.se/index.jsp?a=892968
(article in Swedish sorry)

Now its his younger brother involved in a karaoke fight.
He was on a training camp in Spain with his club Lilleström and the last evening they went out to a karaoke bar. The players where singing "My Way" when a fight broke out and Riise jr stumbled into an Englishman and that guys mate didn´t like it so he punched him.
When the Norwegians left the bar people hurled bottles, chairs and glasses over them.

Guess its time for that family to stop going to karaoke places :)

Don't know if this was mentioned elsewhere last week, but the woefully untalented Nick and Steven on the 'Fox Football Phone-In' here in the States made a fucking meal out of the Bellamy/Riise incident, going so far as to say that Bellamy was a 'disgrace' to football, and 'hilariously' calling him 'Tonya Harding' and Riise 'Nancy Kerrigan'.

So I've just sent this email to their show...

Oh the (four) irony...

Ironic, isn't it? Just five days ago - Tuesday, 20th February 2006, Steven and Nick have a rant about the 'disgraceful' Craig Bellamy (dubbed 'Tonya Harding' by Steven - Fox Soccer Channel's answer to Barry Cryer) who has supposedly brought the game into disrepute because of an alleged incident that took place away from the media glare and was reported by a newspaper that specialises in hearsay and rumour.  The incident, whatever it actually was, was dealt with quietly,  professionally and internally by Liverpool Football Club.

Cue Sunday 25th February - just five days after the rant at the 'disgraceful' Messrs Bellamy and Riise.  The moment - The Carling Cup Final, which - in its final moments - saw the saintly Chelsea get involved in a mass brawl with Arsenal live on TV. A brawl involving the current English Premier League champions that was broadcast in glorious technicolour for all the world to see.

Now that's Disgraceful.

Yes - what happened on Sunday's final was disgraceful. More so, than the Bellamy / Riise - storm in a tea-cup episode. The press just seem to get into a frenzy when it's Liverpool and make a BIG issue out of it. To sell papers, I guess!
