Where I live we have been in some form of local lockdown since September, then we went into the Firebreak lockdown that covered a two week period of half-term. They came out of that with a National (Wales level) strategy rather than moving back into some fall of local restrictions and the National strategy was pretty much do anything within reason. You could visit people at home within a three house bubble, you could meet up with friends at a pub and sit at the table with up to 4 people who could all belong to a different household and after limiting people's movement where I live (Caerphilly County Borough) since September, there was now no restriction on travel!
When the firebreak ended, cases here (CCBC) infections per 100,000 were much higher than where we were when we went into local lockdown in September. The Welsh government have gone from handling it very well initially compared to the UK to it being an absolute clusterfuck. The First Minister now has the nickname of Mark Dripford!
Now talk of new restrictions after Christmas, why leave it until after is anybody's guess, hopefully the decision to shut pubs at 6pm and ban the sale of alcohol in any that are open will have the desired affect, otherwise it is going to be absolute carnage. People aren't listening or following the guidelines in the main. They will be responsible for the deaths of their relatives but clearly they don't care or will seek to blame others when they should be responsible for their own actions
