Believe it or not, me and RedRedTom have actually booked our trip out to Barcelona for this already (having settled on it after ruling out a jaunt around Switzerland and Austria, and having a quick peek at the Far East).

Anyway, we're flying out of JLA on the Thursday before and back on the Monday after, making a bit of a weekend out of it.

Anyone else planning on going and does anybody who went to Barca away a few years ago have any tips, must-sees, etc.?

go on the chair lift,crackin view of the city,also good bars by the beach + marina,remember after we beat them couple of years ago, ended up in bar run by a lad from Huyton, till about 5 in the morning, its the one right at the end, by the restaurants...the team stayed at les arts hotel,right next to the casino.....

Few of us going on this one, and making a weekend of it as well. Looking forward to it. Will be dying to see the reds by then. Been looking at flights for a while, and they're all pretty cheap. Not booked as yet, but we're looking to see if we can go via Girona, the world's 'free' airport...let's just say leaving your ale out in an open fridge in that cafe area upstairs wasn't the greatest idea.

Brand new stadium for next season as well. Somewhere between the city itself and the airport.

I'm in with a few of our normal euro away lads. Crackin trip there last time. Hope we get a good turn out as it'll be a great weekend. La Rambla's here we come ..........

Hopefully there will be some sort of seedy club just as close to our hotel as there was in Madrid, and we'll actually venture inside this time.

The Baghdad club at the top of the Ramblas is amazing. Live sex show with fit dancers. About 30/35 Euros, with a few drinks included, open until about 5

Where else can you fly to in Spain or France and get a train in as flights to Barcelona that weekend are already not cheap...

As you know my flight in sunday and back tuesday is fucking well cheap considering.

We did however get a massive allocation of approx 300 tickets for the centenary tournament at Real Madrid.

With it being the first game in thier new stadium, and Catalonia being the most affluent part of spain, I'd say upwards of two hundred euros.

In all seriousness, no, not been before - but the hotel/hostel prices we've looked at so far seem pretty reasonable to me - certainly cheaper than I expected. Are they l ike that for a reason then?

I booked a week ago. Liverpool to Barca 86 quid. Mind i'm going out sunday and back tuesday. The saturday price was far too much.

Espanyol website shows match as 10pm kickoff.

Fucking boss! In 2004 I was in Madrid on holiday and watched Real v Valencia in a 10pm kick off, it's the business. Plenty of pints, a good meal then the match, it's ace.

RCD Espanyol and Liverpool FC have finally sealed a deal which will see the English team be the official guests at the opening of our new stadium in Cornellà-El Prat. The game will take place on Sunday 2nd August at 10pm. Further details will be published in the coming weeks.

Posted on the friendly thread i think. Two train stations in Cornella but last train back is 00.04 so taxi or night bus back.

Where is that cava bar that you always champion for being so cheap?

I spent most of my time on the Ramblas and Plaza Reial for the game in 2007, didn't spend that much on beers. Having said that I think we only bought 2 rounds in the bars, the arabs selling the ice cold cans of estrella for 1 euro a go until well after the bars shut did the job for us!

It's on C/Montcada in the Borne. But i think the fecker shuts in august. There is another one not far from there but thats the secret cava bar and i couldn't possibly tell you where it is. It is secret afterall...
