When he first went into the old people's home, he stood in front of a TV which was playing a James Stewart film, think they've mentioned that film before, as its where he got the design for his suit from. Thought the "Here's Johnny!" worked well, but the film nerdiness can be grating.

Loving it. Excited to see how (and if) they'll weave the events of Breaking Bad into future seasons and then Saul's life post-Breaking Bad.

Episode telling Mike's back story was superb.

Love the character of Chuck too. Really interesting and love the scenes between him and Jimmy. This show is developing nicely now. The best, and most anticipated, viewing of the week for me now.

The Soylent Green gag was hilarious too.  :lmao

Jimmy's inevitable fall is going to be much more heartbreaking than Walter White's.

Walt was, let's face it, an entitled white guy who felt he was owed the entire world and why didn't everyone recognise his genius??

Jimmy's someone who's pulling himself up by his bootstraps, works fucking hard and is genuine about helping his elderly clients.  Sure, he wants to get paid (he's not a schmuck after all), but he's not an asshole about it.  He's an underdog, like them, and doesn't want to see them being screwed.
He gets his law degree and passes the bar, but the reaction from his brother is one of shock and Hamlin won't employee him as an attorney (but still takes his cake. Asshole)

Either Hamlin or Chuck (or maybe Kim) are going to screw him over in the Rico case and it'll be devastating.

Excellent points. Love how the plot lines have developed from the first few episodes. This programme has really hit its stride in the last few episodes. Can't wait for the next one.

Love the show now. It took a while for me to adjust to the change of tone from BrBa (it's a lot lighter...so far). The last few episodes have been great.

Having only recently finished BrBa & subsequently realised how much attention to detail Vince Gilligan et al put into the show, I'm now always trying to notice subtle things in BCS. Like when Jimmy was looking up 'Embezzlement' in the dictionary & the first page he flicked to was 'Electricity' (perhaps referencing Chuck's condition?). And (I may be reading too much into this one) when Jimmy & Chuck first start working together & Jimmy acts like an eager-to-please puppy with his owner, the next scene features dogs at the vet?

Ok....I'm becoming a geek.  ;D

you can listen to the official post show podcasts here with Vince Gilligan

recommended listening after each episode

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCab9hOn5MELbKB__AOU3RQ/videos

listening to the actor who plays Mike on this one, Jonathan Banks

Especially recommended the podcast for episode six, telling Mike's story, with Jonathan Banks talking about it all

Brilliant again. It just keeps getting better.

The great thing about this show is that I can't decide who I enjoy watching on screen more, but I think Mike just edges it. I'm so glad he's a central character in this, and if you go back and read the early impressions in this thread about how his introduction from the outset of the show was handled, then I think all complaints and fears about that have been completely allayed. Superb character. Amazing show, and more than just a "spin off".

Also, did anyone recognise Trevor from GTA V?

Think that's the beauty of the series and especially that scene at the end between Jimmy and Chuck. The line about a chimp with a machine gun may have been particularly cruel; yet, ultimately, it's also true.

a couple of things

Spoiler
I always presumed that Jimmy changed his name to Saul for reasons of being on the run from trouble, and changed his identity because of his past, to hide from trouble. Just occured to me that changing his name could have been out of disgust for his family name and wanting to disassociate with his brother in any way, he feels so hurt by his betrayal and treachery

Now people can say that Chuck was right, Saul / Jimmy is dodgy and views the law as non sacred and you can see in the future he would do immoral things. However would he have done them if he had let him join his firm and have a respectable job with them? Chuck put him on that course.
