As I've said, he ranges from elite to donkey. For you, the signs are there that it's worth persisting with. For me, he's not consistent enough and this has been the story of his career. I don't think there will be a light bulb moment for him.

If it was just the goals, I'd probably be on your side. But his all round play is a serious detriment to our attack. I think we can do better, even if it's someone who doesn't have Nunez's ceiling. I'd prefer the consistency.

Was fairly consistent until the last month just like the whole team but we should scapegoat him and sell him.

A left sided centre back does little to improve the first team now though. Sign a quality player to play alongside Van Dijk and then if Quansah hasn't made the step up or Konate still not available enough you replace him when he leaves. You don't need to exact replacement in the squad already, just enough quality around them so when they leave so it's not as big an issue.

Van Dijk can play the right side no problem?

Van Dijk, Konate, Quansah + New would be perfect.

It could be Van Den Berg btw he's had a great season again.

Why do assists not count?

111 minutes per goal contribution all from basically open play bar flick on headers from corners this season in the league is bored line elite is it not ?

Doesn’t take pens or free kicks either like have the players named who have better goal scoring records than him who’s half their goals come from pens or FKS but I guess that doesn’t show up when you look up at games played and goals scored either.

Liverpool FC Forum / Re: Darwin Núñez (Darwin Gabriel Núñez Ribeiro)

It's unfortunate, as if Salah and Jota had stayed fit then he's under less pressure and probably carries on scoring/assisting (his numbers were fine at that point). But that's when we needed him to step up and his head went. He got that  goal against Forest at the end which is exactly what we needed. That was 2 months ago though and he's scored one league goal since and one assist. And that goal was at home to Sheffield United. He also scored in the two Prague games, so basically he's only scored against the worst two teams we've played.

Nunez was also injured during the run in though.

Went to it Friday, we had unreal seats for the evening session, unfortunately it was the Gilbert-Milkins match so only one frame.

I liked Rob Walker I have to say, he really tried to get the crowd to make Milkins feel a bit better about himself but it was clear after missing a shot or two his head was gone altogether

The match with Si and Jak Jones was ok, got a bit scrappy, last frame went on a while and even Jones looked shattered. It was just as well I had gone back to my room for a nap earlier as I would have nodded off myself

But a fantastic experience. I would go back.

We need to be planning for Van Dijk and Salah leaving over the next 2 years, so signing those players now, so center half (left sided) and a forward.

We also need an elite 6 in and around the 23-25 range i.e. peak years.

I think we'll sell one of Diaz or Nunez, especially if Salah is staying, the front line needs a refresh thats clear, the other areas of the squad are small tweaks rather than anything major.

For what it's worth, my opinion is that we are selling Salah in the summer and we are only feeding the press this to extract as much money out of the Saudi's as possible.

The difference in transfer fee between a player we are happy to sell compared to a player we are publically trying to keep could be as much as £50m as far as the crazy Saudi money is concerned.

Again your downplaying our coaching staff, to rebuild an entire midfield and integrate young players with the injuries we've had, while competing for every trophy until April, is great coaching job. Posters like yourself are totally downplaying the job Klopp & the coaches have done, to question the coaching this season is madness. The players have thrown away all the hard work they've done for the majority of the season, for no use of a better word the players have 'bottled it'

Everything we've achieved over the last decade has been down to Klopp IMO, i'm not downplaying that.

I'm saying there's room for improvement from what we've seen tactically last couple of years. The amount of times we've conceded the first goal going back over two years now is ridiculous. We constantly start games off the pace. We've got no solidity to us at all as defensive framework. We always have to be 2 or 3 goals up (or score right at the end) to win a game because we can never see a one goal lead out anymore, as we have such poor shape and frailty.

It's still a net loss as you're losing Klopp, but the starting point for the next manager should be sorting the basics out.

This is in the right direction. Bit surprised Newcastle did support it.
It's fantastic news for them and city. Their owners, not the clubs, will simply give their star players some crazy sponsor deal, like 50M a year to promote makeup or whatever.  We cant do that so easily. I mean does anybody seriously believe that Haaland only gets paid by ManC?
