Think hed be decent here. Really do.

Well he’d have to go a long way to be worse than he has been Wolves. 1 goal and 1 assist in the Premier League. He’s horrible, I think I’d be sick in my mouth if we signed him.

Isnt that the part of the season where the 2 week break is and with mostly the Cup comps?
Looks like since it in the Ivory Coast doing it in the summer time instead of the winter would be really bad heat wise.

Liverpool are keeping an eye on Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu amidst Benfica interest
As per Dutch outlet 1908.nl (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are keeping an eye on Feyenoord midfielder Orkun Kokcu amidst interest from Portuguese giant Benfica.

The report reveals that although Benfica remain in pole position to sign the Turkish international, they are wary of interest from the Premier League club.

Kokcu was one of the key players in the Feyenoord side that won the Dutch league this season. The 22-year-old scored 12 goals and assisted five in 46 appearances in all competitions from midfield.

he Feyenoord youth product is a central midfielder who can operate as a number 10 as well. Concerning his attributes, the Turk is great at passing, creating chances, attempting long shots with good accuracy and taking in-direct set pieces.

Kokcu’s current contract with the Dutch side runs until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). It remains to be seen what his future plans are.

Absolutely up for the Kokcu links.... He's a tenacious one and deceptively strong. Skillful with the ball and a rabid dog without it the way he goes about his pressing. Reminds me of suarez in his general desire on the pitch. I would absolute love him here but I think given he is coming from the dutch league, his numbers will be a bit underweighted in comparison to german or french leagues. Unless we miss out on Kone/Thuram, dont see this happening.

What mentality? 3 new CMs, all who improve the 1st team instantly, and more cover at the back and because we only spend £30m (or whatever figure people think isn't big enough) it's unacceptable

You don't care about the club, about the players, all you care about is signings and all you want is big money signings. Finding the right player is bottom of the list to you because you'd rather be able to brag in the playground about Liverpool signing X player for £100m and Y player for £120m. Doesn't matter if they turn out shite (see United and Chelsea as prime examples)

If we can do our business in the summer, without spending hundreds of millions then surely everyone is happy?

Spot on. Bizarre mentality from some where net spent is genuinely more important than the right players. It's also completely at odds with what we've done for much of the past 5 or 6 years of success.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now. - Jurgen Klopp

Think the homegrown situation needs to be addressed to come extent this summer. I've been looking at players that fit that bill and would be a decent addition to our squad without breaking the bank like mount and rice. The ones that seem like value to me are -
James Ward Prowse
Harvey Barnes
Max Kilman
Alex Scott
Leif Davis
Tino Livramento (Just coming back from an ACL, so big risk)
Matt O Neil (Not a fan of his tendency to slide into challenges)

We should be looking to get in atleast one, if not 2 homegrown players in. Hendo and Caoimhin will be gone in the next couple years and possible Joe too. Only Trent and Curtis seem to be the senior homegrown talents for the longer term right now. I duly suspect we might look at homegrown players once we have the main midfield targets sorted.

Looking at other squads I see united having the same problem, probably why they have gone for Mount even at crazy prices. If they are looking to let go of Maguire, then they are in a similar situation.

Are there any versatile HG players that can fill multiple roles a la Milner and Henderson or even Gomez?

Elliott, Bajcetic are likely in the future as home grown. Other possible Homegrown would include, Doak, Gordon, Clark, Chambers, Van Den Berg, Goalkeepers(Have a lot of young talented ones).
Pretty sure for UEFA wise Elliott, Bajcetic, Curtis and Trent all count as club trained(I could be wrong)

For this season alone, if we consider Kelleher and Phillips to have moved on, we are limited to a 21 man squad for Europe, as we only have 4 HG players on the books. The max non-homegrown we can have is 17 for both the PL and Europa, and we are likely to reach that quota again.

We'd have several kids in the squad though to pad out the squad, particularly for the group games.

We need to be signing several high quality prospects in that 15-19 category every year though (like Doak and Gordon) with a view to the homegrown quota (or resale value down the line) because we cannot afford to be paying the prices quoted for established Premier League English players. Look at Mount with a year left on his deal and then the wages expected on top.
