The penalty is the perfect example why handball is such a messy thing. On German TV Lothar Matthäus thinks it was the right decision, Michael Ballack thinks it shouldn't have been given but can see why the ref would give it and Erik Meijer thinks it was the wrong decision. And basically they ask have a point... Still glad that the ref have it. Let's do this...

Every current/ex referee who has given their opinion has called it a definite penalty, I really don't think it was a messy or controversial call at all.

We got to half time preserving our fortunate lead but it's really not the best of games in comparison to other we've seen this season.

In mitigation it looks seriously hot out there on the pitch and combined with our three week layoff, it's showing in our playing.

We seem a bit disjointed, while TAA and Robertson seem the most energetic, everyone else so far seems largely anonymous in the productivity and chances stake, Bobby seems subdued and Mane and Mo, penalty aside, have yet to produce any magic.

However, get an early goal in the second half and the job is likely done, provided we don't allow the Spuds to score first (kane dive etc...)
