What points are these mate?

I don't know, mate. It was my attempt surreptitiously to remind you that it's "you're welcome" and not "your welcome".

It's an acquired disease this . . . deliberately passed on to me by English teachers from England back at my "special" school in Greece. . . it makes reading forums and twitter painful to my eyes and brain. If I had a dime for every time I have had to see "I should of" and "would of" and "the amount of players/goals/shots/headers/etc" and "there" instead of "they're" or "their" etc I'd be a very rich man.

It's all me, I get it. I should just let it all go and quit being such a fycking pedant.

:lmao Pirlo says he wants to stay at Milan - and within hours this shit comes out and you have been suckered.
Errrm...  the Lamela thing is weeks old. Started before River Plate sold him to an investment group on the 2nd of May but apparently the same investment group is still looking to move him on to Europe.

Hey Fordy, I meant these ones. I just wonder if Xerxes and your understanding of him not wanting to play for Liverpool holds true across the board.

The one he said about Aquilani Carroll saying he would prefer to have stayed at Juve Newcastle as opposed to coming to Liverpool?

These ones

"Derek [Llambias, Newcastle's managing director] asked me to hand in a transfer request, so I was pushed into a corner and had no choice," Carroll said. "I wasn't wanted by them and they made it clear they wanted the money.

"Then I flew down in [owner Mike Ashley's] helicopter. I didn't want to leave. I'm gutted that I wasn't wanted at my home team after everything I have done and the progress I have made.

"I didn't want to leave at all. Make sure they know I didn't want to leave. The players, staff and fans were fantastic."
All the badge kissing in the world don't make up for the fact that they are, frankly, not Liverpool Football Club. It's not their fault. Its just how it is.

Think it's a total different situation.

AA played for the club he loved and moved to us but now wants to go to Juve.

I have no problem with a player wanting to stay at a club they love and not really wanting to leave.

I have stated a number of times now that I don't hve a problem with AA but if he wants to be in Italy then we should let him go.

They're from the Guardian mate. But they weren't put up to discredit Andy at all - I'm delighted that he's here.

However, throughout this whole Aquilani debate the main protagonists argument against his return has been their interpretation that he would not perform because he would sulk, or be a bad influence (in the dressing room or on the pitch, or both) because he would prefer to be at Juve. Quite simply he would not perform because we would be his second choice.

I just wondered how that related to Andys comments. Fordy, to be fair has answered. The fact that his answer, IMO, is just evasive rubbish, (almost Xerxes like in fact) I suppose is just that - only my opinion.

No, he's already at Juve. Purslow and Hodgson sent him there. I cant recall him asking to leave the club he was at to go there.

I think deep down he wanted to really play for us and still does, but things didn't work out and he was thrown aside like a piece of meat.  I'm sure he feels hurt and disrespected by that.  Like someone mentioned earlier he left his childhood club to come to us and for it to not work out and to be treated the way he was.. it would be hard not to feel bitter about it.

Was Purslow who wanted Lucas gone, I think. Credit to Hodgson (thought I'd never say that), he did actually regard Lucas as a good, hard working player.

I'm glad to have Andy with us and I'd be glad to have Alberto back next season as well. From what I've heard Alberto's a really nice lad and I'm sure he'd enjoy playing in a team managed by Kenny Dalglish.

How was it down to Hodgson that he stayed? I thought it was virtually all tied up with Stoke that Lucas was going but something stopped it that wasnt Hodgson

€16m Aquilani fee 'a little steep'

Friday 13 May, 2011

Alberto Aquilani’s agent feels the Liverpool buy-out clause is “a little steep” and Juventus probably won’t pay it.

The Bianconeri have been haggling over the €16m fee after taking the player on loan for this season and the deadline is looming.

“Juve want to sign Aquilani on a permanent basis, but they also want a discount from Liverpool on a price-tag that is effectively a little steep,” agent Franco Zavaglia told Sportmediaset.

“Clearly, if Alberto were to return to one of the top teams in the Premier League, then he wouldn’t be unhappy. He did sign a five-year contract with Liverpool.

“The important thing is that he had a good season and washed away those rumours he was constantly injured.”

this deal is going to get done or not done if we want it done or they agree on the full price.  that's it.

I hope we don't give them a discount.

If they want it, get Poulsen back. How about that as a discount you cheeky fuckers.

It's probably already been mentioned somewhere in this thread but I thought Juve were on the verge of wrapping up a deal for Pirlo. If thats true then the Aquilani to Juve deal is a dead duck I would imagine.

I just wonder if Xerxes and your understanding of him not wanting to play for Liverpool holds true across the board.
To be clear we do not know for certain what his preferences are. I think that it is safe to assume that staying in Italy is not a bad result for him.

Equally, the prospect of a £9m-£12m pay pot at Anfield over the next three years would certainly ensure that his return here was comfortable.

It's quite simple really.

If Juventus decline the option to buy, we'll take him back. If Kenny feels he can fit in, he will keep him. Otherwise, we'll phase him out. And if we want to keep him but his mind is elsewhere, he can always hand-in his transfer request.

What do Juventus expect? A player like Sandro who is pretty much a gamble on a young Brazilian costs 9M pounds in the current market. A steady italian national midfielder, a proper footballer who gave them a good season and they cant cough up 13M pounds (~16M euro, no?) for him? What the fuck? What player is going to replace Aquilani and cost 5M pounds?

can we change the title of the thread?

Juve are not refusing to pay the "asking" price, they are refusing to pay the "agreed" price.

It's an "agreed" price if they want to sign Aquilani up by May 15 (or whatever.) If they don't like that price, there's no compulsion for them to pay it - they'll just lose the certitude of getting Aquilani if they don't pay it, or wait until after the date, because other clubs will have the chance to compete with Juve, or, if we wanted,  we could refuse to sell at any price.

Pirlo said there was no deal for Juve and that he would like to stay at Milan
Yes, you are right. But Corriero dello Sport is a good source. When Hodgson fired Aquilani so that his boy Poulsen could enter the team, this journal told the deal was done before anyone. Before even the Arsenal match. Plus the article said that Pirlo had stil to have a meeting with Milan, but that he had already agreed terms with Juventus.

When is the deadline again?

The deal runs out on the 30th of June so that is that deadline. 15th of May is a deadline seems to deadline to try and get the ball rolling on the deal.

If the 15th of May passes it's not the end of the sega as Juve know he is still their player until the 30th of June.

Re: Juve will not pay Aquilani asking price

The worry is that it's not only Juventus who don't think he's worth the asking price. There doesn't seem to be a queue for his services at that price.

This is what Juve wanted hence playing this through the media.
