Coutinho fails to turn up for the first day of training.

It could still be a lot less than "no release clause". I like our club policy better.

Aye I suppose that is true, in the weird and crazy world that is a footballers contract nowadays. So its just Barca trying to make some sort of statement there I guess.

Even for the French NT he hasnt impressed me. He doesnt seem any different a player in that set up than he is for Atleti.

The French NT aren't set up much different than Atletico despite their obvious talent.

I would love to have a player who doesn't impress and still puts up the numbers he has.

Whats with the patronising tone?

You know ive watched him,as ive pointed out,yet you tell me ''Thats because'' like you know yourself he hasnt been impressive,by explaining in your own words why he hasnt been impressive. You then bang on about how the teams he plays for play like ive come to the conclusion he isnt that impressive by not watching a single minute of him play. Then, telling me aboot Rawks opinion like ive mentioned anything at all aboot Deschamps.

Fucking bizarre

There wasn't any patronizing tone there. You're reading more into that post than what it was meant to be. I'm aware that you have watched him, should be fairly obvious to me you have come to your opinion, and I have not said otherwise, have I?

I said 'that's because' because I do acknowledge that he wasn't impressive for France in the last World Cup at least, well I shouldn't? I'm just saying that there are valid reasons as to why he didn't stand out. People bring out points doesn't mean they're implying the other person hasn't watched anything, it's just that they mean they're watching it differently. There's nothing wrong with that?

I brought in Deschamps, because his system is not a lot more attacking than Simeone's, so it's not as if he has played in free-flowing systems and has failed to shine. It's just a point. I mentioned RAWK, because right here in this forum people have called Deschamps as a defensive minded manager, not far away from Simeone in that regard. You said this

Quote
He doesnt seem any different a player in that set up than he is for Atleti.

That makes Deschamps and France's style of play quite relevant to the discussion, because you brought out set-up, that made it look like he was playing for an attacking set-up and still looked the same, which isn't the case. In any case, he did win the best player of Euro 2016, so it's not like he never shone for France, again a valid point in this discussion.

There's nothing bizarre there, it's just an explanation of a contrary opinion. You're known to be lighter than this, come on.

Coutinho on loan, no fee, no wages just a free player for a year. Klopp rehabs him so they can sell him for a bit next year, we get a great option off the bench, and Coutinho gets owned.

If that's all they have done then it's not a great deal compared to other clubs when no doubt around that time of year start talking to potential signings (agents) with or without consent
I can't stand them but on this occasion Madrid were only facing the inevitable and should move on. If it wasn't Barca it would of been psg or whoever

Agreed. It's a big deal. I can't believe how Barca have been let around loose for this stuff all these years. It's not just unethical, I believe it's also cheating in a way. Getting to a player contracted to another club and then getting him to miss training/get mysteriously injured & go against their clubs is just horrible. Also, getting their group of ex players to suddenly give interviews and voice how great the player they're linked to is and how Barca is a great fit for them. I hope they pay for this some day.

I know we did this for VVD (to a much lesser extent), but we were about to be appealed against/punished had we not issued an apology, whereas Barca get away with this every summer.

There's no discrepancy though. I'm pretty sure his agent would of made it clear as day to certain big clubs what the contract situation is, I'm pretty sure it's all public knowledge in Spain anyway.
Madrid are fucked off their rivals aren't paying last terms price. That's business. Take the emotion out of it and move on (Madrid).
I agree with people here regarding the other antics they get up to like players not turning up to training etc but this is no different to how most clubs operate around that time of year.

Doesn't make it right, that's my whole point. Just because it's being done by other clubs doesnt mean it's not a shiehouse move. If one of our star players were being tapped up during the season whilst we're competing against City, by City, and he ends up moving, you'd be livid.

Business or not.

Why should they move on - they all (player and Barca) clearly agreed a deal prior to the clause lowering and then waited to sign to manipulate the price. Depending what evidence Atletico have I imagine they have a good case.

And I hope they do. As if Barca are forced to splash out more then more chance they’ll need to sell to raise some cash.

Yep. They have a set GK, so they should've got proper defenders and midfielders instead of overblowing on the attack again and again in the last few seasons. Malcom and their constant Willian links on top of all these. I mean, nobody can ever digest Paulinho, even though he was okay for them, at least scored a few goals, unlike Andre Gomes who was utterly invisible. The state of their transfers. Shocking.

Locks Barca paper saying they still owe us £88m for Coutinho.

The implication of this is that it means that they did indeed pay for him over 5 years.
