He is a beast of a CB but if we continue to play him as if he is a ball-playing center back, then he is just going to be an inconsistent failure. His passing is pretty poor, and his vision for a forward pass is non-existent.  So many times, it's tough watching him try to play the wrong pass, under hit, over hit, running with the ball forward and then turning back or losing the ball. It's much better to have Quansah perform this role than Konate.

Daft busy week, so only seen one frame of snooker so far (Trump v Ford), but just seen the list of fallers at the first: Brecel, Williams, Carter, Selby, Hawkins and Ding amongst them. Some big names gone already. Stroll in the park for Ronnie this year?

7 Hag’s biggest issue came because of his pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, something that was completely driven by 7 Hag and left them reeling at the end of the window when he finally gave up. Quite why he thought de Jong would come I don’t know, Barca were trying to force him out and he still didn’t want to play there, it was well reported that ETH was happy to continue waiting for the situation to play out when those at United would have moved on a bit quicker. Once that failed and the season started disastrously, they were scrambling, they end up paying double/triple the market value for Antony and they give Madrid the deal of a lifetime for a Casemiro with serious mileage in his legs.

A similar type of approach ends up burning them in his second summer, they want Kane but he goes to Bayern, they panic and buy Hojlund a couple of years too early, they can’t get rid of Maguire and McTominay and they end up doing the panic of all panics for Amrabat at the death of the window. It was two windows eerily similar to when David Moyes took over, time wasted chasing players that were never joining and eventually panic buying players that the manager knew would at least listen to him, regardless of their actual level.

I imagine we have a plan for this window, bringing Slot in means we can continue with our profile of player for most positions, we can continue to aim U-25 and we’re pretty well versed in spotting a dickhead now so character assessments should be spot on.

Meh friendly or to impress the new manager. Might be worth some of these players showing some fight.

Score predictions …. Does it matter?

One for the computer techs...

My boot drive died yesterday - at least in as far as it not booting windows any longer, the data might still be retrievable, I suppose.

Windows was installed on the thing using the media creation tool and my Win7 license key off my old store bought PC, then upgraded to Win10. Can this process simply be repeated on a new boot drive or is it a one-time thing?

I was thinking of outright buying Win11 anyway, whether my old license is fine or not, just for the cleanest of starts.

I was talking to a train enthusiast the other day who says the train service was far worse before privatisation. Not sure of his politics but I didn't really use trains much back then so have no comparison.

You all still holding on to Salah?

I used two transfers getting in Son and Isaak. Actually sold Haaland. And with Jota out he’s more than likely going to feature again surely.

Must be the first time I actually know nothing about the next manager but that's not all bad I guess. It's pretty much how I start every day, don't have a clue really as it's all a surprise....life, as a few months ago I thought Klopp was here for a couple of more years and Boom!!!!! Life goes on n hopefully Arne can bring more smiles than not to us. Welcome to the club

I was looking back at some of the earlier pages of this thread for a laugh… it’s clear that not a single one of us had a clue about him. We’re all complete divvies.

Fortunately we have people at the club who aren’t divvies.

There was a post by John C back in January, not long after Klopp had made the announcement - some insider had given him what was supposedly Spearman’s shortlist of four names, three of which were Alonso, Amorim and De Zerbi. Those three make sense in light of what info came out later. The fourth was apparently Terzic from Dortmund but that was always a mad shout. I reckon it was actually Slot all along and John C’s informant had deliberately put him off the scent.

Clearly we got as far as talking to the other three (or their agents) to sound them out but I wouldn’t be surprised if Slot was already the favourite at that point. After all, Spearman had been doing his research since November by that point and I don’t believe he would have been unaware of Slot.

There was also an astute post from rafathegaffa suggesting it would be someone left field we’d never heard of…

Still sad that Klopp is leaving but also excited and optimistic for the future.

Welcome to Liverpool, Arne Slot. YNWA!

Doesn't that tell everyone that the fans and the game ruling bodies are walking on diverging paths? Is it not time to give the game back to the fans?

Football authorities don't give two shiny shits about fans as long as the money keeps rolling in. The only way they do is a fan boycott of match day and subscriptions. They take advantage of our lack of collective.
