With summer looming you can sense that people want to start speculating or offering broad 'analysis' that strains at the parameters of individual player-specific threads.  I'll use myself to demonstrate:

I sense he's going to have to be very patient next season, however - I rather expect that an inside left and a wide right player who offers a greater form of latent threat to Downing (a sort of ever-present 'Plan B') will be key targets for the 'First XI'.  We'll also probably look to add robust cover for Lucas which leaves Henderson as probably first in line to step in for Gerrard/Coutinho/inside-left - that will sure allow him to rack up the appearances for a third successive season but I hope it's not considered a setback if he's in and out of the team and not quite considered a main man.

On this subject...I remember a few seasons back we had a sort of one-size-fits-all thread whereby people could share their overspill - it probably looks a horrendous and disorganised mess, looking back, but it served a neat purpose:

Once the season's over, I'd suggest that it might be a sensible idea to have a thread such as that that enables people to offer their 'squad' view - somewhere to let people put that name. that they're desperate to put out there, out there, and whatnot.

It'll hopefully stave off the tens of new threads of this nature that we might expect and you could even run with a few ground rules - (*) the topic for (at least attempted!) quality posting and request that no speculated Twitter nonsense be included (speculation/hopes/desires fine, but not simply letting a poorly sourced rumour become out of control and widely accepted).

If you offer people a little more slack on the lead then you might find they stay more closely obedient to the master (surely there's a nice concise and common idiom for that out there...?) :Wave
