Champions League Final 2009 Ballot
« on: December 18, 2008, 01:56:47 pm »
Does anybody know what date the UEFA ballot starts for next year's Champions League Final? I can't find any news on it on the Internet, but it seems the closing date is generally around mid-February... I just can't find a starting date.

Cheers

The ballot for final tickets last year (2008) was from february 28th to march 19th.

The final 2007 ballot ran from february 5th to february 19th.

The final 2006 ballot ran from february 3rd to february 24th.

Sometimes if you get a ticket in that ballot you end up sitting next to knobs.

My mate got two for the final in 2007 and was sat right at the half way line.He said for the 1st 15mins of the 2nd half he had about 30 empty seats beside him  :o

They were the only ones within 100 people radius who even had a jersey on and that included AC jerseys too!!!

Wouldn't of bothered me though as long as I was there!

i have won tickets the last two years on the trot in the ballot. Bewarned in the event of failure (unlikely i know but possible) you can end up stuck with expensive ticktes that no one wants.

Last year we got stuck with some cat A tickets and almost gave them away in the end, no mancs wanted them sold so they went to a Chelsea fan in the end.
Will be entering again this year usually early march - better to be sat with knobs that sat outside or at home - is my view.

Lets enjoy Madrid first - great stadium the tour is brilliant in the daytime, loads of Torres stuff in the museum.  Millions of trophys, bit pricey but well worth it. only 20-25mins from airport in a taxi to the ground.

Where the other 99 all laughing at him for being a whopper?

Seriously, I have never won tickets in 5 years of trying! As people say, you can be left with tickets? Why I dont know, surely you would go if you won the tickets?

I have just got a job offer in a school. After checking the half term dates, and finding out I will have a week off for the final should we get there, I accepted!

Seems to me that the travel companies know at least one prem team will be there in all likelihood. Still, there are plenty of other near airports to fly to. After Athens and Istanbul, anywhere else is easy to get to! Having said that we didn't get to Moscow, that would have been worse, but you know what I mean.

What you'll find Tony is that the media crews (TV, radio, journalists, etc) and those who know they will be there (corporates, etc) will have all their flight and hotel arrangments booked already.  Doesn't matter to them who's in the final.

Would love to do it by train - considered that for Moscow actually. A proper 'journey' to remember...

Just watching The Istanbul Story on LFC TV, hard not to count chickens!
I think we'd have won the league if we'd sold Keane to Man United.

Yeah i had a quick look as well earlier this week and its £200 but as someone said earlier there are loads of ways into Rome, it cant be as bad as Athens or Istanbul. The only problem will be accommodation but after winning number 6 that wont be a requirement.  Sorry must stop counting those chickens. Will post on here when i see the dates for the ballot but keep it quiet  :P

What previous games would you need on your FC for this, if we get to the final!! If you had all the home games would you qualify for a ticket or do you need away Cl games??

Thanks

If you had all home hames recorded on your fancard that was enough for moscow last year.

I always think if you have 7 games you are safe enough but all depends on our allocation, anyways to far to think that far ahead to be honest.

Moscow would have gone to all fancards had we beat Chelsea. Man U sold them to equivalent of all fancard holders.

Rome, you will need 7 or more to guarantee a ticket. Then they would ballot STH with 6.

I was told by my mate that the application day is this coming monday - 16th Februar. Have searched the UEFA site, but haven't found it yet
It’s not even about individuality, it’s about the team. Our game was based on his controlling of the tempo. Squeeze the life out of the opposition and then strike. That is our game. Like a pack of pythons.

Capacity
The net capacity of the Stadio Olimpico for the UEFA Champions League final will be about 67,000. Supporters of the two finalist clubs will be served via their clubs directly, with approximately 60 per cent of the stadium capacity being reserved for the followers of the two teams. Each finalist will be able to take up to 20,000 tickets and distribute these directly to their fans. The remaining tickets will be allocated to the European football family, comprising UEFA, the local organising committee, national associations and commercial partners.

Fucking farcical allocation as always. What a bunch of tossers!

I believe that's an increase on the proportion that has been handed out in previous years, though, which is encouraging, if a little disspiriting that the figure is still so low. Anyway, around 20,000 per club for this year.

Only 20.000 for each finalist, this prob means so that a fancard holder with all home and aways this season will miss out on a ticket from the club.

Odds are pretty small - this 10,000 are available to everyone worldwide, it wouldn't surprise me if hundreds of thousands of people applied for them, if not even into 7 figures.

As ever 7 credits will guarantee you a ticket....s/t and f/c.

s/t with 6 will probably go into a ballot for the remainder.

Not everyone with 6?! ;)

With 20 000 tickets, if the figures are about the same as last year, everyone with 7 would be sorted then if all season tickets that had 6 credits applied they would have around an 80% chance.
