Listening to Stereophonics Carrot Cake & Wine, which was a B side to the A Thousand Trees single, could have been an A side, got me thinking to songs that are B sides, that could have been A sides.

Manic Street Preachers B side, Prelude To History could have been an A side too.

Oasis were known for having B sides that could have been A sides, Acquiesce & The Masterplan being prime example.

Any other songs that were B side, that should have been A side?

Marigold by Nirvana on Heart Shaped Box. Grohl song with Kurt sing harmonies. Lovely little quiet gem.

Reckon they'd have become a more democratic band in terms of the songwriter duties if he'd not died. Might have spared us the boring late period Foo Fighters too.

Most of the band Sweet B-sides were well better than the A-sides.

The A-sides were mostly written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman and were cheesy as fuck, whereas the B-Sides were written by the band and were rocky as fuck.

I need to come back to this thread when i have time.. one of the great cultural musical losses is the great 7" vinyl b'side....they joy of a great B sides was one if the best things  of a  buying single for me over 30 years.......TBC..

Oasis and Suede just had so many, so much so I’d argue their b-side albums (The Masterplan and Sci-Fi Lullabies respectively) are their best work

I just saw this pop up on a Facebook "punk" group I'm a member of.  Immediately thought of this thread.

"If the Kids Are United" is a single by Sham 69, released in July 1982 with "Sunday Morning Nightmare" as B-side.

Both totally worthy of being an A-side
