That Barnardo's ad on the box...
« on: December 16, 2008, 09:55:34 pm »
..Does it make anybody else feel sick?  I know it's a good cause, but did they have to make it so graphic with the girl getting smacked on the head?  :(

Didn't know it was for Barnados - we have to turn it off everytime it comes on as my missus hates it!

Yes.....If it makes you feel uneasy then the ad works.

Likewise. I think its horrible. It upsets me every time I see it.

Taking "hard-hitting" to new limits. If it works then why not.

But...

Didn't know it was for Barnados - we have to turn it off everytime it comes on as my missus hates it!

Same here.

I said in another thread a few weeks ago that sooner or later they will show someone actually dying and their last breaths on TV. It happened recently on Sky I think. It will get worse and worse, there be no boundaries left soon.

Agreed mate, like I said it's a good cause, it just makes me want to turn the channel over.

I found that old smoking one worse myself, with all the gunk in the veins and clogged arteries. Being a non smoker, made me want to throw up.

The current car seat belt one worked with me. I now always make sure everyone in the car is strapped in, even if I'm a passenger.

Some what intense when first saw the advert and like many others I find myself turning it over when it comes on.  Hard hitting and apparently it has had a lot of complaints, whilst it is hard hitting if people are turning the advert off it is having the operative mission of what first intended.

Saying that I bet it cost a tidy sum of money for the advert to be screened, monies that could have been directed in to many childrens projects directly.
Try to sit on the fence and you're quickly exposed as a fraud, hiding your true feelings but fooling no one.

Havent seen this one yet, cos havent a TV, but some ads only shown in Ireland, the DOE driving ones usually, I cant watch them, I have to turn it away but thats what theyre aiming for...

In fact, I think some of the road safety ads were banned in the UK cos they were so horrific...
I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager.

You can see the advert here, anyone who hasn't seen it might find it upsetting.

They must get donations from the public because of these adverts and part of the reason for the campaign is to raise awareness of the issue amongst the public to combat violence against children in domestic situations. I'm sure that it works itself out in terms of value from a number of angles.

Truly horrific ads the DOE ones, especially the one with the little boy. Can't stand when they come on, the Barnardos ad is also distressing to watch.
Ahh, pressing refresh and waiting for news... just like the bad old days.

Liverpool porn, this.
