Getting closer to that Chelsea wet dream midfield
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Down to bare bones in central defence. Can't believe we started with 4 and 1 backup (Fabinho) and now down to 2 fit centre backs.

Who in the Under-23 could we use?

Odd to say that when you look at what happened to Bournemouth. At the very least we still have two fit senior centre backs, and very good ones at that.

"Yous rely on Salah" they said.
"Yous rely on Mane" they said.
"yous will bottle it" they told us.

Shocking isn't it?

I mean what kind of club actually relies on its own players?

Can I say Henderson was brilliant today, a real captain's performance from him. Great to see Curtis Jones get on as well, only disappointment was the Lovren injury, but at least he was back sitting on the bench later on.
Hendo is vital to how we play, particularly without Fabinho. He does so much all over the park. He's always criticised for never playing the ball forward. Anyone who says that clearly has an agenda. He is an outstanding player

At times it looked like we just let them have the ball for a bit just so we could win it back.

One of the easiest wins I can remember ever seeing in the PL, wasn't a battle in any sense.

Absolutely perfect aside from Lovren's issue. Gomez looked a lot better than he has previously since his return from injury I think.

As it stands:

2.88 PPG is ridiculous.  17 points ahead of Chelsea in 4th (best midfield in the league notwithstanding), and now all the pressure lumped on M City and L City.

I don’t remember an easier game than that in years.  If that’s what they’re like after 3 games in a week then someone has got a pass easy game on New Year’s Day.

Great to see Keita getting a goal and an assist. We’ve been sharing the goals around recently, so the whole “over reliant on the front three for goals” thing is dying down as well.

Onwards.

both hendo and ox covered every blade of grass and then again in this game.

The workrate is impressive but the quality even more so.

what a squad we have now to be honest. Giants in every sense of the word, each and everyone of the players.

A bit of a worry now that degsy is down but Gomez didn't look like he needs warming up at CB did he. Almost first to every ball. and won every header. Front foot defending at its best.

Weird that we played the exact same fixture on the exact same weekend last year and it went in a very similar way, City were the late kick off that night as well (albeit away to a decent Chelsea time rather than home to the fucking Mancs.)

Second time in a few days that the team sheet made me nervous and the second time in two days that I had no cause to be.

Fantastic result again and another step closer.
