Votes of confidence for both Dalglish and Ayre from FSG.

Why would they even conduct a vote of confidence before a crucial game?
Probably to quash any rumour Kenny is next for the chop

He said 'under the first team' - he's talking about buying teenage lads to bring through IMO, not wunderkinds straight into the starting 11.

The academy has been boosted though.
Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong.

They've been hear about 18 months now and have a very shrewd man in Ian Ayre working with them, I think we'll be grand. If David Dean comes in then we will have moved to the next level.

Just keep that money grabbing twat Peter Kenyon away.

I agree he would move us up on a number of levels. I woudl see him as a ideal CEO (and whats required) but seeing Werner's interview, he still believes in a structure with a DOF. Is there room for a DOF and CEO - would seem a little crowded and complicated management structure to me.

Do you think the players have delivered as expected this season?

You can select them you cannot kick the ball for them can you!
My point is that Damien is supposed to be responsible for getting the players we need to win. According to Ayre he's done that. If Ayre's unhappy with the players' performance vs. how he thought they would perform, the people responsible would be the players and ultimately Kenny. I agree with your last line, but Damien has nothing to do with whether players perform according to their potential.

The dreaded vote of confidence.
From here on in its all FSG's doing. Good or bad they will stand or fall by the decisions they have made in the summer of 2012. Lets hope they have gotten it right.

So the site says he left for family reasons but Werner says he wasn't the right man. Werner then says Comolli didn't do a good enough job and the results aren't good enough, but then says we have the talent on the pitch which basically absolves Comolli's role.

This sounds like a bit of an unplanned mess to be honest.

Exactly! If FSG think we have enough talent its the bloody coaches and players who are responsible if we're getting spanked every week.

We don't know who else will follow him out the door in the coming hours, weeks or months. Commolli was part of a "team" that got it wrong, specifically with the fees for Carroll, Downing and Henderson. Let's see if they think the other two are worth keeping.
Let us never forget Rafael Benitez and what he did for us. A fighter full of guts and passion. A gentleman full of class and dignity. A football manager full of intelligence and pure genius. A Legend.
Adios Rafa, buena suerte.

You know what, I think this is a great thing for the club.

a) It's much needed.  Obviously something isn't working out and it's been changed now.
b) It takes the spotlight off the players for Saturday.  The goalkeeper situation and everything else will be sorted out without all the speculation and pressure and we can sort it out quietly
c) There'll be some players out there seeing the man that bought them getting sacked and I think they'll get a wake up call.  If I was Downing and Carroll, Henderson to a much lesser extent, I'd be shitting it and come out ready to prove something

as for the 'vote of confidence', if tom had said 'no comment' or 'we're not pleased' then people would have pounced on that as well. so damned if you do damned if you don't.

FSG have been forced to act earlier than they had hoped, it's unfortunate.

I would imagine Comolli is the highest profile on their list. I think he'll be alright, he's made a few bob and he'll get another job.

But as they work their way down the list I think it's unfair to be speculating on who might be next, as some of these people may indeed find themselves 'signing on' in the near future.

The bit about 'resources to compete with anyone' is hugely questionable.

Not sure,  We should be competing with what we have spent, compete with does not mean having the power to outspend City or Chelsea.  We have more resources than Spurs and Newcaslte and they have competed very well this season.

Well, they've just said they're not happy with all of our recent buys by firing the man supposed to be responsible, haven't they?
They're not happy with Comolli's implementation of the moneyball strategy. Some good posts in this thread about that.
He was supposed to buy cheap and sell for more, but he overpaid for the cheap buys, thus making profit-making impossible. The worst signings regarding that are Carroll and Henderson. Adam and Downing might not be as exceptional as we need them to be, but we had to sign some experienced players to add to the squad immediately.  And going by the rumours, he fucked up some transfers we didn't get.

Why do this 2 days before an FA cup semi?

We definitely do not need this hoo-hah now. Whether Werner says Kenny's job is safe or not, the press are going to be hounding Kenny at this interview, and the "Win the semi or face the sack" rhetoric will be ramped right up.

Why not do this next week?

It's what I've been hearing, more younger, cheaper players, not the marquee signings.

Remember the "3 years to get this club stabilised" comment.  Sort out the overpaid, older, underused players, build up from the bottom with younger, cheaper, more motivated players.
Which is the way to go in my opinion.
