Does anyone know who's behind the new tower block apartments going up by the Mackie's on the way out towards Ormskirk? Good investment opportunity that I'd say.

Spot on that lad. Good to see someone putting a bit of money into the place too. Can't be a bad thing can it. If I was in the market I'd go for one of them, nice area, superb location, and all fully fitted.

having lived in the area, I would exactly call it nice (lets remember this is the area nicknamed by the British press "Little Beirut"). Hope they will sort out the park at the back and section it off from all the smackheads. Walked many a time with the dog only to find him running back with used needles etc in his gob.

Hopefully some more money will be spent on the land surrounding the area to give any owners the benefit of waking up in the morning without looking out their windows to see a burnt out car and fella shooting up in front of them.

They're laffin gaffs them....

Same company that regen'd the ones in Everton Valley.

The finishes in them is boss, and very reasonably priced.

The ones in Kirkby are in a sound location just for ease of gettin into town really....train station 2 mins away, or a quick 5-10 min drive. Happy days.

Train station 2 mins? Only if you run all the way. Walking it's 5 - 10 mins.

Used to live just up the road from there as well and getting into town in the morning would take a good half hour if not more. The traffic in Walton Vale used to be a nightmare.

They look good though, been coming for a long while so it's good to see them getting on with it at last.

I drove past there last week and saw the signs and thought the place was earmarked for demoltion a few years ago. I still wouldnt live there and thought for the area and for the price it was a bit steep, especially as they are ex-council high rise flats.

Nonsense. Same flats in downtown Everton for double the price.

Hlaf of them were demolished, and the other half are being redeveloped.

I've been working in one of 'em for the last 2 weeks or so...

The contractor who bought them out paid a whoppin' 40p for each apartment and is gonna make a fucking belter profit on them... he's already sold all of the higher-priced ones to Knowsley Council.

They're gonna be nice when completed, though. Some of them are massive an all.

So the council's sold them for 40p and bought them back for thousands. Great business sense that. ::)

Not sure KC owned them in the first place, so they're not losing anything. Besides, they'll make their dough in the long-run anyway so it's good business.
Anyways, they were that cheap 'cause they were just shit tips, which is what you'd expect from a place which was an ex crackheads' paradise, judging by the state of the insides before the work was started.

40p per flat/apartment is pretty much average for places like that.

I used to live in one of the blocks a few years ago, it was a proper shithole, used to call it my penthouse cos I was on the 12th floor.  Went past the other day and I can't believe how nice they are, they've all been snapped up apparantly

talking about regeneration.....

i was born in liverpool and used to live in kirkby and edge hill before we moved away when i was a kid....

used to go the game all the time during late 80's/early 90's but then moved down south and couldn't afford to travel up...

in the past couple of years have managed to get up to liverpool about 5/6 times

came up to liverpool by coach last weekend (usually go by train) and went down edge lane and couldn't believe all the boarded up houses with metal grilles.why are these basically decent houses empty ? is edge hill dodgy nowadays ? did everyone move away ?

obviously there are other areas in liverpool with houses boarded up (eg anfield..)
but these  seemed to be really decent houses... ???

are they due to be demolished as part of some council regeneration plan ??

They're going to knock a load of those houses down to build a new Edge Lane "gateway" into the city.

Thats probably the roughest part of Kirkby, so don't be walking round with a Liverpool replica shirt over your jumper, and generally acting like a wool or you'll find out what the kirkby kiss is firsthand.

I've lived in Kirkby for 3 years now and I think it's a wonderful place!!
It's so safe the kids don't need to wear crash helmets as they razz along the pavement on their mini-motos! They don't need real police - just wardens cos there's no crime.
It's such a great place to work as well....judging by the traffic jams every morning coming from Maghull.
Tower Hill is Canny Farm with pavements.  ;)

And to think those Blue twats are gonna spoil it by building a stadium (?) here!?
It'll never happen.....Not as long as the Whiney County Road regulars can still spout their bitter bile!!  :no
