Yeah definately. Poulsen as always doesn't make his presence felt, gives the ball away all the time. As soon as Spearing comes on he makes some good passes, even contributes to the creative flow of the game and just generally looks a hell of a lot better. This is coming from someone who used to think Spearing was sh*t. Gone way up in my expectations.

I was aching for Cole to score at the end, I give him so much stick but you could tell he wanted to prove his worth today... silly from Ngog to take the chance off him.

Too many fucking 'meh, good to be through' replies from the lot of you. It's the last cup we can fucking win this year, more importantly it means something... just looking at Kenny and Gerrard celebrate.

we played horrible although their were small moments of quality. poulsen gives the ball away more than he completes passes which is just unbelievable.

Hopefully no bad news with injuries. Didn't play great. Their keeper made some good saves. Carroll will be loads better than N'gog in Europa. We are missing Gerrard as well. On to the next round.

Given the circumstances, that was a great win for Liverpool. No we didn't play well, and yeah, Sparta aren't world beaters, but our lineup was awash with injuries, and we played at least 10 minutes in that game with injured players on the field or on the sidelines. Yet we fought to the bitter end, and Kuyt popped up with the winner again.

In many ways this tie reminded me of the qualifiers for the 2009/10 champions league against Standard Liege. However the circumstances are wildly different. That tie was an ominous indication that a lean era was beginning. This one comes at the end of that era, and like a starving predator Liverpool's body is lean, its muscles sinewy, and backed into a corner, it curl up and whimper, it found a way to survive.

Soon players with the class of Carrol, Suarez, and Gerrard will be strutting their stuff on the pitch, and as long as we can show that kind of resolve, I am sure we will win things.

Lot of anonymity and hooferball going on today. Poulsen had one of his worst games, hope it doesn't affect his morale too much, as we need him to fill in for resting players, especially in the Europe.

Shame Kelly had a knock as he was making some good inroads down the right.

Good result tonight with a few players missing. Fairly solid. Sparta were breaking our attacks up well and we lacked a bit of creativity but Kuyt started dominating the game in attack late on. Their centre backs are very old, 33 and 37 I think and they were tired and we took advantage of that late on. Good result.

Not a great performance but its a win nonetheless, so i'm happy. I wasn't too pleased with Poulsen today, or N'Gog but maybe hes lacking match fitness/sharpness. Wilson looks solid, Kelly was great first half, just hope his and Agger's injuries are not too serious. Roll on Sunday

Of course it was hard, but what would you have expected? Arsenal would find it hard to cope without Nani, Berbatov and Rooney, so would Arsenal without Arshavin, Van Persie and Walcott. We missed Stevie, Luis and Andy for 180 minutes so it’s good enough for us to get through. No matter how. We’re still in contention for this cup. Let’s ‘ave it!

A big shout for Kuyt tonight,the man doesnt know when to stop running and working, ok his first touvh can be iffy but he got the reward for his efforts tonight. Good to see Joe Cole trying to get back to form,that meant more to me than anything,clearly he isnt a big time charlie and wants to play for us. We are through against a tricky and dirty team.
