I listen to this regularly in the car, I love it, I also posted another Hazel O'Conner classic in the Syth pop thread. Need to get that thread going again really.  ;D

Aye it's a great tune.
Being the youngest of our tribe i was always going to be influenced by music played by my elders..some of it was proper whacky.
The Splodgenessabounds..what the fuck were they all about?!?!
Which reminded me of another..

In light of the news that Aretha's performance Live at New Temple Missionary Baptist Church is released on film, I listened to the album again. YNWA never fails to get me bibbin.

Gary Numan 'Are Friends Electric?' AllSaints Basement Sessions

Not bad this but it's a little bit counter intuitive as many of us from the Synth pop thread would probably consider 'Friends Electric' as the definitive single of Synth pop, a real game changer in it's original form.

Another interesting cover of one of my favourite tracks, nice to experiment sometimes.  ;D

Ooooh yes. When they finally come in with those oh so familiar notes... lovely.

Totally different... have listened to this twice today and thinking of chowing down for my third visit. Not related, but not unrelated either. Very special tho... abstract, serene, soft, noisy, grating, fun... 45 mins mind and best consumed when one fancies listening to a challenging piece of music. Worked for me while washing up. Anyway... going to tidy up with it again... it's only midnight.

Been searching for the original Video for this dong without success, sorry this is the best I could do!

David Bowie - Sound and Vision

Ah, Ah,
Don't you wonder sometimes - About sound and vision?
Blue, blue, electric blue, That's the colour of my room - Where I will live.
Blue, blue Pale blinds drawn all day. Nothing to do, nothing to say
Blue, blue I will sit right down Waiting for the gift of sound and vision
And I will sing Waiting for the gift of sound and vision
Drifting into my solitude
Over my head
Don't you wonder sometimes
About sound and vision?

Dolores O'Riordan & Sinfonia Varsovia - Zombie

"Zombie" is a protest song by Irish rock band The Cranberries, written about the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington, and in memory of two young victims, Johnathan Ball and Tim Parry. It was released in September 1994 as the lead single from their second studio album, No Need to Argue (1994). It preceded the release of No Need to Argue by two weeks. The song was written by the band's lead singer Dolores O'Riordan, and reached No. 1 on the charts in Australia, Belgium, France, Denmark and Germany.

Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence, caused such silence
Who are we mistaken?

But you see, it's not me
It's not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head they are crying

In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh

Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du
Du, du, du, du

Another mother's breaking
Heart is taking over
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken

It's the same old theme
Since nineteen-sixteen
In your head, in your head, they're still fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are dying

In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie, oh oh oh oh oh oh oh ie-ie oh

This is one of my favourite live clips on youtube - Van Morrison stealing the show at the Last Waltz gig with 'Caravan'. It's ace the way he launches straight into the vocals at full throttle after the shortest of intros. It's even acer how he exits the stage after the leg-kicks.  ;D
