Online Stadium Poll
« on: July 12, 2011, 12:18:17 pm »
Hi all,

Just threw an online poll up to guage opinion on what the general concensus is in regards to what you think is the clubs best option, staying, going or sharing

Be grateful if you could vote

Nice one

That pollis the proverbial "Do you beat your wife" question.

There would not be (should not be) a Red who would not prefer to stay at Anfield.

If the question asked whether there was a preference for a New Stadium if it offered the better commercial answer for the Club, that would be fair.

The Liverpool Echos current poll shows 60% in favour of a new stadium.

Does anyone know if it would be cheaper now to build the stadium - then it was when Hicks and Gillette took over  - seeing that the world economy is down?

It is highly likely it would be cheaper to build the stadium now compared to when the original prices were quoted.

Yep likely to be cheaper, but its still the cost of an entire stadium for an extra 15500 seats. No wonder a redevelopment is more appealing.

Surprised about those quotes, surely included in the 60k would be a lot more 'premium seats'.

Just thought I'd mention this but did anybody see Richard Hammond's Journey to the Centre of the Planet?  I only mention because the the California Golden Bears in Berkeley are forking out $320m over two years to saw their stadium in half because it sits on a major fault line.  They're hoping the two independent halves of the stadium will suffer less damage should a major earthquake hit.

Mate as non scouser I feel that leaving Anfield is wrong on two fronts.

1. Anfield is hugely the reason LFC came into being.
2. For "only" an extra 15500 seats it's not worth building a completely new stadium.

Having said that the new build is attractive as there is enough space that LFC have room for further improvment for a further 1000 years.

Still, I still cannot understand why it is so difficult for LFC to buy enough houses from the surroundings to make way for this and a possible other expansion and still have enough room to allow the remaining locals enough light. What I mean is we bought Keane for 20M and sold him for a huge loss just 6 months later, so now that our debt is cleared we can afford to "waste" that kind of money on something useful.

I am afraid that there are several council owned houses in the space required and the council is holding us at ransom.

And btw that poll is closed, or do I need to register?

Like what LiverpoolKopKings:

1. Anfield is hugely the reason LFC came into being.
2. For "only" an extra 15500 seats it's not worth building a completely new stadium.

So there is no point of changing the stadium as it is one of the most iconic stadium in England and our home ground
but we need a bigger stadium capacity to stay on top of any debts if we get them (hopefully not).

Saw that.   :D
Amazing that they would spend so much to retain the stadium !

to counter point 2, there re alot of restrickted views in the current ground - there will be none in a new ground plus the scope to grow further in the future will be put into the design.

Heart says stay but head says New stadium all the way
