My judgement:

Reina: 7. A deja vu for him, had the same against Blackburn. Nothing to do, but no clean sheet as an own goal haunted him.

I'd give Pepe a 1, he din't do shit the entire game.  ;D

Good stuff! That'll do me. Carroll will come good, I think he's just lacking confidence and don't forget he's only 22, so all the negative press must get to him no matter what anyone says. 22 years old and people calling you shit and a waste of money is bound to have a detrimental effect on you. Oh Skrtel's clearance was amazing.

It was at least 3. He should have scored 2 of them- they were on a plate. Hitting the bar is missing.

His touch makes Kuyt look like Leo Messi as well.

Jesus christ give it a rest and enjoy the win.

Gerrard, Skrtel, Agger & Bellamy were class.

Some good and bad from the rest.

Pretty comfortable once when we raised the tempo(after going behind and Stevie coming on). Don't know why the team can't play at that tempo from the start.

Carroll showed that he does get into position and can be dangerous if the balls in are real quality like the two that Stevie put in for him. Unfortunately the service isn't usually that good.

Can't wait for Gerrard to start against City.
still bit too early it seems, he was puffed out towards the end, perhaps 45min next game would be nice. Adam should rest and give Jonjo a go, Adam was really abysmal tonight, let him get his mind focused and stop him doing hollywood crap

My thoughts after the game.

- Carroll had a poor game but I think he should be given a run of games now especially with Stevie back.

What form? He did fuck all as usual. Like I said: Gerrard comes on, and within 5 minutes gets his head up and puts in two cracking balls into Andy. You're fortunate to get that in 5 games with Downing.
First half he and Johnson combined brilliantly, second half he was quieter.
AHA!

A lot of people have been saying our finishing is the reason for our goalscoring problem, and I don't disagree, but people can't deny that Gerrard's classy supply from the right is probably some of the best supply we've had from wide areas this season, which is kind of sad.  But all i'm saying is supply from someone who actually CAN supply is way more likely to be scored from than the aimless sort of stuff we've had going.  The fact that Carroll didn't score either of those two great balls actually seems to support the reverse, but I have a feeling he'd score those a fair few times out of ten.

I absolutely love our defence at the moment, other than the goal, Newcastle created nothing.

In regards to Carroll, i am not trying to stick up for him as i am the first to say his first touch is shock and he is far too lazy, but there is very little he can with awful crossing from the likes of Enrique who never find him. Once Gerrard came on though, everything seemed to change

Glad wwe got the three points.

What a difference Mr Gerrard makes.

He could single handedly turn Carroll into a goalscorer.

For all the millions pumped into getting young bloods, Bellamy proves to be the buy of the season!

And In just 30 minutes, Gerrard has put in more successful crosses for Carroll than the rest of the team put together for the past few months! Can we just clone him already!?

I feel bad for Stewie, he deserves a goal or assist. Hopefully it'll be a better year for him in 2012.

I say swap him for Ba in January, no questions asked.

Hitting the bar is missing yes, but atleast he attacked the ball like some were moaning about.

That touch that got away from him was down to confidence, simple as that, so instead of getting on his back, how about supporting the fucking lad eh!?

Fuck me lad, I don't go to the match and lynch the man. There are a few hundred people at this very moment in the pubs around Liverpool who are saying the same thing after having being at the match and probably shouting his name.

And yes, he attacked the ball. For that he should, er, be commended because he doesn't normally do it?

Did everything he could for the one that hit tha bar. Unlucky, simple as that.

You could look at his performance as another goal-less game or you could say that if Gerrard stays on the pitch Carroll will be a menace. He still has a lot of goals to score before we can get excited about him but at least he's starting to look more dangerous.

Skrtel and Agger were boss yet again.
Downing and Bellamy were simply fantastic.
Not much more needs to be said about Gerrard that hasn't already.

Adam and Carroll just aren't good enough, cut our losses and get rid.

Great win, but it really was an easy game, Wigan and Blackburn put up more of a fight than Newcastle did, and it shows in the result.

What the hell happened to henderson when gerrard came on? absolute class!

The experience of a world class footballer beside him happened.

Quite simply Gerrard is immensely good at creating that extra yard of space in any area of the pitch, and sometimes that's all others need to show what they can do. He doesn't need to rush things, he doesn't need to hit and hope, he'll just take all the attention of a defence off of someone else and on to himself and then deal with it easily. He's just different class, basically.
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.
