Is Tahiya likely to run in any big races next year that are worth getting on now?

Quite an unsatisfactory result for me as I’d be touting Torquator Tasso as the one I’d back. The draw got him beat there plain and simple. He was drawn in the car park and got beat less than 2 lengths after gaining hand over fist down the straight. Reverse the draw and you wouldn’t get the same winner. Ah well.

As I didn’t have an interest have to say I’m pleased with that result. Nice to see those kind of connections Winning a race like this. No superstars in that race not a great arc

Anyone got any thoughts on the Newmarket card tomorrow. I’m going with some friends and really struggling to pick out anything with confidence.

Tempted by the Chapple-Hyam runner ew in the first. Silver Knott and Chaldean. Haven’t had a proper look at the Cesarewitch yet but Charles Byrnes can’t be sending one over without a decent chance.

Watch that Byrnes one in the market. If they’re not backed like they’re 2 stone well in they don’t win.

Also put the first 3 winners in a treble as well and got the winner of the last. Reckon the bookies took a pounding every winner was either Fav or well backed. Probably my best ever single day on course. All down hill from here :)

I hope he goes out in style. The horse deserves it. A fresh Adayar could give him a race albeit he’s not going to have the pace of Baaeed I think. Buick should probably bounce out and try to run it out of him.

Yep looking forward to Baaeed’s swan song, hard to see him beaten if he’s at or close to his best.

Gerry, interested to see Quickthorn a bigger price than Coltrane, despite thrashing him at York, did you fancy him today, think you liked him for that York win? Trueshan does look worth taking on.

I think running off a gigantic weight in the Northumberland Plate took the edge off Trueshan this season. He’s been running decent but just not with his A game I think. I also wouldn’t want to back Quickthorn today. He finished legless at Longchamp and 2 weeks isn’t a lot of recovery time. 2 1/2 miles on that ground would leave its mark on any. Eldar Eldarov would have to be the one for me there. Getting 9lb in soft ground is a big help.

Think I’m leaning the same way due to pretty much the same reasons.

Really want to take on Emily Upjohn, just don’t think she’s that good. Just not sure with what, possibly Sea La Rosa or the other Gosden runner.
Can’t get away from the front two in the Sprint, both seem a fair price

Bit anticlimactic, wonder if anything will come to light with Baaeed. Possibly the ground? In fact that’s what Crowley’s said

Think Adayar would of had that if he wasn't so keen round the bend.

It was Baaeed's toughest test yet and maybe the ground went against him.

A race too far for both Inspiral and Baeed. The ground at Ascot is a major factor this time of year.

Fancy Orbaan in the next, only ride of the day for Callan and trainer has good record in this type of race.

Good news that they’re sticking with a 4 day Cheltenham festival for the foreseeable future. No mention on whether they could move it to Wed-Sat yet so that’s one thing that could still change but at least they aren’t looking at a fifth day anymore

Good news. Last thing needed was another bunch of red hot handicaps with loads of Irish plot horses and Mullins and Elliot  2nd/ 3rd division runners to further muddy the waters.

Good renewal of the Charlie Hall Chase tomorrow. Should be interesting to see Bravemansgame v Ahoy Senor again. Flat track and this early in the season might favour BMG but Ahoy Senor has the higher ceiling and is the more likely to make an impact in the big races next year. Eldorado Allen no mug either but you’d like to think these will be too good for him.

Will be a good watch

Just noticed Anyharminasking is running at Ascot today. I think Gerry highlighted him last season after dotting up in a couple of handicaps. He beat Constitution Hill in a Point.
He’s Fav today and effectively top weight but 7/2 seems worth a go

He ran like he’d eaten 10 kilos of concrete Duvva

American Mike just got started over hurdles at Down Royal. He didn’t blow me away but the further they went the more his stamina kicked in. He looks an Albert Bartlett horse already off the back of that. His technique was poor first time out and he just didn’t look very quick.

Clear best round Envoi Allen has put in since he left Elliott. Good training from De Bromhead to get him back up to a good level, I thought he was done at Group 1 level.

Admittedly different sides of the Atlantic but I get Frankel vibes from the sheer dominance. I watched the race tonight, it was preposterously good from Flightline. Just extraordinary how he moves through the gears and makes good horses look a bit Class 6 at Chelmsford.

Without doubt one of the best ever. Life Is Good tried to go with him, a 4 time Grade 1 winner and ended up collapsing in a heap in the final furlong and was beat 12 1/4 lengths in 5th while Flightline won by 8 1/4 wrapped up. I’d say he is top 5 best ever.

He's now been officially retired so there will be a case of 'what if' with him. He's only raced what, 5 or 6 times? Clearly, he's a horse who is difficult to get right considering he didn't run at all at 2 so it isn't a surprising decision but I would have loved to see him race on. What he's done so far has been absolutely breath-taking and it really is a sign of a phenomenal horse when you can make other top-class horses look absolutely ordinary like 1892tillforver said below.

The thing with Flightline is that he didn't beat much in any of his races. The aforementioned Life is Good isn't a 1m2f horse, hence why he did exactly what he did the only other time he tried over that distance and faded at the end as he was knackered. His biggest competition in that race would have been Epicenter but he went wrong and had to be pulled up with a leg break (successfully operated on since though), so as soon as that happened and Life is Good did as expected, you knew that race was over.
Horses that win by miles are deceptive and it often says more about the competition than the winning horse itself, except for when they run great times too of course. That time was an expected time for a Breeders cup win and whilst some would say he could have gone faster at the end, well maybe, but we'll never really know because he never properly sprinted in 6th gear in any of his races. That extra gear may not have been there. A will to win in a battle may not have been there.
The owners have got the best deal of all though because without beating that much in his life, the hype made him into a gold mine of  a horse. But I'm certain that in time, when the hype settles, that people will look back on him and say that he didn't do enough to be considered as one of the very best horses of all time because others proved so much more.
I'd also demote any American horse that runs on the same surfaces/conditions every time too. That's a lot different to running at York in the GF, Epsom in the GS, Ascot in the soft and Longchamps in the Heavy, for example. Our horses that can do that shit are lightyears ahead for me.

Out of interest Gerry, who would your top 5 be?
