Yeah, looked nice. Boughey's 'Oops' ran on nicely for fourth as well. Varian also has Embesto who scooted up at Yarmouth to win by 6l first time out. Hopefully he'll be another nice Roaring lion in the making.

Desert Crown finally returns tonight. I’d say Hukum would be a decent test first time up as a 4 yr old but he’s been off with a worse injury I think since last June as well.

Fingers crossed the injury which wasn’t supposed to be too bad hasn’t impacted his ability as he looked one of the better recent Derby winners with lots of potential

I don't fancy either of them tonight due to injuries, time off and distance. Neck on the chopping block for Claymore, who should be a bit of a beast now, or Cash. And even Solid Stone at the price he is. At the very least I want to see Desert Crown face a proper challenge and see what he's got, albeit first time up.

I won’t be having a bet. A race to watch in the hope DC wins well and sets himself up for either the Prince of Wales or the Eclipse

Desert Crown has to put these away. Hukum should be way too slow over this trip and the rest not good enough.

Elite Status looked very good going past multiple winners like they weren’t there.

Not sure which race they’ll go for at Royal Ascot but he should have a decent chance, although he could run into American Rascal.

Hukum wins it. Plenty of distance between him and Desert Crown until third though so good to see them both through it and ok, although Hukum did seem to have stopped fairly quickly after the race, fingers crossed. My donkeys were donkeys of course. (Never listen to me).

Elite Status is a funny one because he's got that size about him and eats up the ground quickly. If you go back through his pedigree you actually find Sweepstake, dam of Broome and Point Lonsdale! It's a good job that Havana Grey is taking hold! He's going great guns is HG. Lots of live contenders for Ascot.

That’s a pretty disappointing run from Desert Crown. Should not be getting beat over 10 furlongs by a 6 year old who’s only won once at a shorter trip than 12 furlongs, as a novice.

Hell of a run from Hukum mind. Wonder if having beaten off cash here didn’t have enough to go again. Can forgive Desert Crown that on his first run back but he’ll definitely need to step up a fair amount on that if they’re going to continue at 1m2

First time at that distance in two years. Crowley said afterwards he felt like he'd got quicker at home. Maybe he will be a 1m4f horse at most from now on? I would be very interested to see how he gets on if sent to Ascot this summer now.

I did it in a double with Global Heat.

My mate had Ł60ew on it at 7's.  I stuck it on for him so just had to transfer him the Ł600+  :(

I noticed that an Annie Power foal is due to run in a bumper at Ballinrobe tomorrow. Interesting to see how he goes. By Galileo trained by Mullins and owned by JP, The Riccis & S Magnier

Tahiyra getting beat at Newmarket really leaves a bad taste. She was by far the best horse in that race and will prove it over time, starting today. Weld left her undercooked for some reason. He really struggles to train winners these days. Only elite ones can overcome it.

Have just watched todays race hard to know what to make of the form but she stuffed Meditate last season she only did enough today. Right now I wouldn’t be backing her at short prices

Surprised to see Running Lion declared for the Oaks, thought they’d go for the French version.

Reckon they’ve been watering well to ensure it doesn’t get too fast by Saturday.

Anyone taking on the Fav today in the Oaks. Gonna give Soul Sister a shot on a surface which is just going to get faster as they day goes on, and it’s already good to firm.
Favs never run on anything better than Soft so worth opposing at the price, but clearly if she can back up the last run she wins.

Running Lion is interesting if she stays but think she’ll be better over 1m2

Pity about Running Lion not running. Could have won that to be honest. Given what Frankie did today, Arrest looks tempting for the Derby.

I think Arrest might be the best horse in the race but he wants it soft and it’s rattling there by the sounds of things. Gosden said he wants them to leave the taps on for 8 hours overnight

Wide open Derby. Don’t think you could be very confident about any horse. I like Military Order as a type but Charlie Appleby’s lot are in dogshit form.

Pretty much come to same conclusion. If it was soft I’d be with Arrest, but in these conditions I think Military Order has the least question marks, but as you say Gerry hard to be confident about anything

I suppose Dubai Mile could be worth a nibble at 20s in that case. Has a decent shot of being in the first four.

Really hard one to weigh up this year, especially with the ground being as quick as it is. I fancied Sprewell to improve again but he's sweating up which is never good. White Birch maybe to run well too, I think Arrest will need juice in the ground and Auguste Rodin would be a no from me.

AOB really is a genius

Military Order very disappointing, didn’t look like he handled the course at all. Arrest the same.
White Birch and the second have run good races

He did well to run down a 17hh horse like that, fair play. I had Sprewell who got his run well and truly blocked off and couldn't recover from that.
On to the French tomorrow, should be good.

Always seems much more of a lottery to me, especially the shorter distance races. I don't know the stats but I expect you get more higher odds winners on the flat that the jumps, even with the possiblity of falling?

Could possibly be even more impressive given how a lot of their horses have been running. Having said that 3 winners from 3 runners yesterday so perhaps they’re coming out of the period of bad form
