Fantastic again tonight. He doesn't even feel like a young player embedding into the first team anymore, does he? He just slots right in and looks as comfortable as anybody else. I think that performance for England vs Brazil done him the world of good, and he has really built on it since.

Developing VERY nicely. Still can get caught under the ball at times and has a few sloppy moments but he could be a rock in our defence for years the way he’s going.

Wonderful young player. Just needs to watch some of his passes and get tight to his man in general, but today he defended really well.

He is certainly improving steadily. It's natural at his age, he'll make the odd mistake, but his attitude is excellent.

That's why I wouldn't rush Gomez at CB just yet. He's developing nicely at FB and we should allow him to continue doing so as he already missed like a year and a half of his development due to injury. This kid is a proper defensive FB who will only get better with experience and maturity.

I rate Clyne, but with the form of TAA and Gomez, i don't think we miss the former that much.

Like when Borini got injured in 2012 so we were forced to play Sterling/Suso, a "blessing" in disguise?

He's years away from being the finished article. And I mean that as a compliment because he's bloody good already. Obviously still makes a few mistakes but it never fazes him and he just gets on with it. Hard to believe he missed so much football at such a crucial age.

We’ve had other defensive talents here like Kelly, Ilori and Robinson but they all had problems and injuries that limited them. With Gomez, even when the injury was announced, I had no doubt that he will become a top class defender for us, and that remains the case.

There was a moment on the highlights I saw where Klopp seemed to be having abit of a go at him, think he headed the ball into play and the Stoke lad got a shot off. couldnt watch the game but good to hear he had a overall decent game.

For me he's currently our best option at RB, not perfect but a very promising young talent.

Yup he's dependable as fuck. Does not play like a young player. Lots of conviction in his passes and dribbling. Rarely gets beaten 1 on 1, positioning excellent, knows exactly when to tuck in and when to drop. He's a £50m talent already.

It's crazy what he must be worth now (particularly when you consider that only a few months ago he was returning from a career threatening injury).

To be fair though, in this inflated market even my Aunt Marjorie must be worth a few mil.

Nah, Clyne is better than the pair of them. Gomez is a Clyne-lite with a few extra inches of height. TAA is already probably better going forward than Clyne but defensively nowhere near Clyne.

We do miss Clyne for sure. Gomez and TAA are the future and doing very well.

Clyne is still better then them both at this moment.

That height is pretty important. If anything it's Clyne's weakness getting done with balls far post, Gomez for the most part just eats them up. Definitely has been the best right back at the club but we won't know what he's like until he's back.

Thought the praising for him was deserved but a bit over the top after some of his recent performances, but last night I thought he didn't put a foot wrong. Klopp gave him a bit of a bollocking after the Allen chance, but I don't remember the buildup to that, it'd be interesting to see that again.

Looking forward to playing him at his natural position once Clyne comes back.

It will still take Clyne a couple of months to get into form at which point the season will be over. Gomez and AA are getting invaluable experience regardless.

He's a smart player. He's got a mistake in him - but only once. He figures it out and adds it to his game, or at least his approach to that particular game. He will go very far. I'd be trying to move him in CB here and there already, he inspires confidence. For me, at least.

And not making too many mistakes. Even with the constant CB rotation caused by injuries.

I said it when we signed this lad a while back and watched him play a few games. He's one of the few young centre backs we've poached from somewhere that I've genuinely been excited by. He's had his injuries, but now he's back and firing again. He'll make mistakes of course, all players do, but I think its scary how good this lad could be. He could be a great player for us. I just hope that he doesn't fuck off back down south in a few years. We need to be competing and showing him and others that we are progressing and that our club is the place to be. So far, he's said all the right things on that score.

load of bollocks that CIES thing, I don't much care what their algorythm says :D.
All subjective I guess, but Sane, Jesus, Dembele, Werner, are all players with far more upside to their talents than Delle Alli (as good as he can be). Heck, I'd take Pulisic ahead of him as well.

But yeah, Joe Gomez is great regardless :) Cracking young player, so happy he is here and already a regular in the team after his bad injury. He can only get better.
