He is 25, and would have his best years ahead of him. He has yet to receive any full international recognition, but considering he spent last season in the Championship, that isn’t surprising. Maybe if he can get himself in to a top side, and into the Champions League, then international recognition may follow.

Getting involved in the Clichy transfer makes sense now. We established just how much an experienced Premiership left back was worth (though Clichy was also an international) at £7m. Newcastle couldn't say Enrique was better or worth more than that.

Finally, a decent, not injury prone LB at the club !

The left is looking pretty good now, not just the left but in general, the wings are looking very strong.

On the right, we have Kelly/Johnson and Henderson/Suarez and on the left we have Aurelio/Insua and a proper LB Enriqure as well as Downing ahead of them.

he's pretty good - took him a while to adjust to the league btu i suppose thats why you're in a good position cause you can afford and buy good prem experience players! very very quick, we nickname him the bull, and very calm and composed on the ball - loves his 1-2's, will make a partnership with downing, sometimes makes a few mistakes when facing towards own goal, or back passes but usually very reliable. 9/10 he'll get the ball, terrific signing for you, am bit gutted but new it was coming so it's not a carroll feeling this time!
