I was fuming when he missed that chance because the keeper was basically already on the floor and all he had to do was lift it, then he goes and does that a few minutes later  ;D

All forgiven Bobby

I think the goal wouldn’t have been given by VAR. Bobby was offside

I don't think he was. There's a replay from behind the goal that shows he was behind at least one defender.

Two bits of play last night that showcased how hard he works and how sublime his skill is.

The first was his role in our second goal. Not just the fact that he avoided a collision with Salah in the build-up but that he then bust a gut to get in front of Rice and made sure he was there for a pass or a rebound. The second was his astonishing take after Trent had hit his own post.

Yup, was a moment of madness at the back and we scramble the ball away with Bobby just, I don't even know, Cruyff-turning on a ball in the air(?) to bring it under control and calm everything down.

Some absolute filth again today. Starting to think he’ll wait for the day we wrap up the title to score at Anfield ;D
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Hattrick of Assists now gets him to the 2nd highest assist maker spot in the team. His link up with Salah was mesmerising today. Its a shame not more teams will have the cojones that Soton showed because they really had a go and could have gotten something if they'd finished better in the first half. Much better than sitting with 10 behind the ball and drowning the game out hoping for a dodgy counter. Good luck to them too!

He started the season with some of his best football for a couple of months, faded a bit for a while and then got back to his best in December and has stayed there since. Great game bringing everyone into play. His touches and game intelligence are out of the world and it irks me when opposition fans and pundits call him a striker, No. 9 or center forward (even though he wears No. 9). When will people realize that he is not a striker. He needs to be assessed like how the likes of Rivaldo, Bergkamp and the likes were. Not a striker, but not a pure attacking midfielder as well. Kind of like a Deep Lying Forward.

I wonder what effect all this fucking brilliance is having in Brazil?

As I understand it Firmino never had the weight behind him that most other Euro-exiles had. He left Brazil too early for that. Coutinho left his home country early too, but not without making a big impression at Vasco da Gama. Lucas Leiva came to us as Brazilian player of the year and an icon of Gremio. But Bobby left as an unknown. No one was rooting for him to do well in Europe and hold up the prestige of the parent team. No one was lobbying for him to make the Brazil national squad.

Yet here is. Not just the greatest Brazilian forward, but a contender for the greatest footballer in the world.

And Liverpool has made him. Not Real (sic) Madrid or Barcelona or Benfica. There must be a lot of confused and bewildered people in Brazil at the moment. But what an education for them.
