I watched the game back on video at a careful degree just. In truth, if you look back again, Chelsea had two or three good chances. Carragher blocking a point-black shot from Robben, Drogba failing to connect with a header in the second half, and of course, Gudjohnsen's effort wide.
That is not to say we didn't have our own chances. Cisse had an excellent chance with a header, unmarked, and later, was through, and could not manage to lob Cech.
The game was a messy game, if you look at it from a pure football sense, and take away the sense of the occasion and the crowd, just for a moment. I think, actually, the problem is that Chelsea lacked urgency. They were too patient for the game until 80 minutes. Mourinho is well-known for telling his team that it's ok, there is still a lot of time to get a goal. He thinks that is the right way, to calm his players. Didn't work this time. If they had showed more urgency, it would have been more difficult for us to stay organised and keep the shape. This has not been mentioned in the reports I have seen myself.
Looking back at the player performances, without Carragher, I think we would have lost the game. The back four, immense, as has been mentioned countless times, and Hamann had a very solid game, shielding the back four and starting attacks with his neat passing. Biscan did good too, but was rather more tentative in possession, indicating the usual unease with the ball. Hamann supported our right flank in defence, a lot, especially as Chelsea were somehow concentrating their attacks either through Gallas, or Robben, after he came on.
That is the more rational analysis, but now, after the runover, it's back to my happy emotions.
