So annoyed I missed the start of this... was there any booing from the crowd?

Not really.

Probably get a bit from the crowd when they're fielding after the crowd have had a few pints. Might only be a couple of pints though the way Australia are batting - 90/5

Nice knock from Maxwell. But now he's gone. 190/6

On paper doesn't seem much batting to come.

EDIT: 193/7 - Agar gone now. Rashid traps him LBW. Fancy he'll be the leading wicket taker in this series the was Australia are playing him.

214 all out off 47 overs

Should be about 100 light at The Oval but time will tell.

England lose Bairstow, caught at deep mid wicket.

With such a small total to chase, will they be a little less cavalier or is this the only way they can play these days?

Buttler should polish that off in about 10 overs, no?
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

That Aussie team is as average as it gets. We should be belting the shit out of them if we've any hopes of winning a World Cup.

He loves gifting his wicket when well set. Think he has just scored theee hundreds in a row so probably can’t be too churlish!

Indeed. He’s a superb talent, Bairstow. I was really questioning the received wisdom that England’s one day batting strategy is now always to attack relentlessly irrespective of the scorecard.

I’m repeating myself, but kinell England don’t half throw wickets away when apparently set fair for a victory romp.

Well I still expect an England win, but there’s absolutely zero reason to give any team, let alone the Aussies, a sniff, needing just 3 an over to achieve victory.

Indeed.

I’ve got a suggestion. If it’s plan A or nothing, reverse the batting order. Willey and co. are better pinch hitters than blockers. So when they’re 6 wickets down, they’ll still have fast gotten runs on the board, but batsmen with better technique to see them over the line.

What he often does, playing a stupid shot. all we need to do is to just pick up the singles and he throws his wicket away....again!

The extra responsibility of batting at 8 has done him some good. He’s literally growing before our eyes.

Would like to see Mullaney of Notts get a game, very good all rounder.
