it was good support yesterday, it took a little bit of time for us to get going again after half time but last half hour was quality atmosphere. FOAR, YNWA were loud as fuck and the 20 renditions of 'We've got the best midfield in the world' got louder and louder. Great day all round.
I think I'll sit this one out in the safety cupboard

Our support was superb yesterday, a complete contrast to Villa Park last season. Awesome performance from the lads in the stands, lets hope it sets the tone for the rest of the season.

5.15pm kick off on the opening day, was always going be good. But as soon as you walked into the ground yesterday and it bouncing in the concourse underneath you could tell what it would be like.

Looked like the whole top tier stood all game as well and was just as good as the lower. Well in.
There were some meffs bouncing up and down just before kick off ...

Just GO you Yank twats.

There seems to be a trend in giving the away fans a section along the side now - maybe we should stick them in the upper Kemlyn!!!

I've been a bit scathing on here about some recent away trips, but yesterday was quality. We sang pretty much the whole game and there was some cracking banter at Witton station on the way back, with some great songs on the go. And who'd have thought that one little argentina shirt could offend so many people...

The winner yesterday reminded me of the celebrations at Leeds in the FA Cup about 6 years ago.

Mr Ellis obviously never got the best quality seats when building his own stand though. Opps.

Think Villa could have made a mistake in putting the away in the upper tier because your much nearer to the roof which elevates the sound making it louder.
If my assistant had not signalled a goal, I would have given a penalty and sent off goalkeeper Patr Cheh. he beeped me to signal the foul. The noise from the crowd  stopped me hearing it, I have been involved at places like Barcelona, Ibrox, Old Trafford, Arsenal, but I've never in my life been involved in such an atmosphere. IT WAS INCREDIBLE

Yep.

I was in the top tier and everyone was stood all match.

Excellent support yesterday and it was a pleasure to be there, as you say, a complete contrast to Villa Park last season. It was still bouncing when we got off the train at New Street from Witton. Reds on the escalators in the station banging the walls with the best midfield in the world booming out. ;D

Thought it was a great atmosphere yesterday. We kept the singing going virtually throughout.

We always stand at Villa (mainly coz thee isn't much choice behind the goal if you want to see), but I was surprised that the Upper Tier did too yesterday. Don't get me wrong, it made for a much better atmosphere as a lot of them were singing too ('though I could imagine the moaning coming from the rest of them up there!), but one thing concerned me - the number of people blocking the aisles throughout each half (lower tier, don't know what the upper one was like).

Normally at Villa the stewarding isn't heavy-handed but even though we stand, the aisles are kept clear - like for European games on the Kop. Hence it's pretty safe, people can get in and out if they need to, and there isn't a problem.

But yesterday the stewards did absolutely nothing to even try to keep the aisles clear as far as I could see. There was one steward at the front of Q2 but she just sat on the boardings laughing and talking. I thought that was part of their job?!

Luckily everything was fine. However, whilst IMO sanding in front of your seat is petty safe (and that way more people sing and the atmosphere is usually better), blocking all the aisles is dangerous and something needs to be done. At this rate, we'll be getting reduced allocations everywhere next season....

Just another example of how poor the stewarding is at some grounds though. Wouldn't have taken much yesterday, people were in a good mood, just a reminder but sure they would blame us and not the stewards if they felt there was a safety issue...!
We are a team of one half.

Amazing atmosphere, celebrations for Stevie's goal were immense.

I was quite impressed with how Stevie himself seemed to want to celebrate with us, even punching the air at the whistle.

I know he gets a lot of stick but felt like he was one of us yesterday.  :scarf

sounded mega on the tele like.

just wondering.....whats the story behind the new song?

i think its called "We've got the best midfield in the world"

i know it was/is an england song and many lower league teams sing it, just wondering where its cone from like?

I was a bit dubious about being moved from behind the goal to the Doug Ellis stand on the side but the reality was - it was better. Then again anything would be better than last seasons effort there.
I was in the back row of the top deck - great view!!
Heard sod all from the Villa fans except when they scored. The sight of them trudging out when Gerrard scored after their gestures of 'friendly rivalry' to us after they flukely equalised was pure bliss!!

lets keep it going for every away game this season, cant make chelsea next week but looking forward to sunderland on the 25th, great athmosphere in the concourse(bar/food) area before game started and staff couldn hear anyone's orders, they were stunned with the noise of We've Got The Best Midfield In The World.  good volume for Poor Scouser Tommy which is good.

Has anyone got a link or could send me a link so i could watch the 90 mins again, i would really appreciate it, would love to see the villa fans faces when gerrard's free kick went in moments after they were singing "your not singing any more", priceless. Well done everyone
