The argument that we should be scouting and signing young talent before it is discovered by everyone else is fine only as long as we are signing this young talent at a small price. If we are paying eye-watering amounts of money we could well be signing players who have already demonstrated that they can realise their potential.

Henderson may turn out to be brilliant, but it's huge gamble to pay that much money at this stage of his career and doesn't even leave much prospect of us being able to sell him on at a profit if it doesn't work out.
Spot on. Henderson & Carroll will both have to turn out sensational to recoup what we've paid for them. Huge risk whatever way you look at it.

the argument works both ways to be honest , on the one hand he hasnt played for us yet when he does he might turn out to be a very shrewd signing and i have the ultimate faith in kk and so i think he will but on the other hand if he is one for the future(ie next season or the season after) maybe we should be waiting until we ave got back into the CL before we start investing so much in unproven talent as IMO CL is a must for next season and henderson is an unknown quantity . if we dont get cl we will b looking at replacing reina def. , suarez??( is not going to wait forever especially if he keeps playing the way hes playing) maybe  even the likes of lucas will get offers . as i said arguments for both i just hope he comes gud this season so this will argument will be null and void .
also its not as if he is the only buy and it all rests on his shoulders adding more pressure leading to failure.
As brian reade rightly pointed out,he isnt the big buy, theres two months to go in the window and as others have said, international window doesnt take off untill after july 1st...too soon to get the valium out just yet

There's no comparison. Lucas was £7 million. So now he is a bargain. Henderson will never be a bargain, no matter how good he is. He might be a good buy, a shrewd purchase, a superb signing. But he will never be a bargain.

I'm not putting pressure on them, I'm just a guy on a message board..the club has put pressure on them by agreeing to a fee that's (in Carroll's case) akin to a world superstar and with Henderson a fee that might have piqued Arsenal's interest in selling Wilshere (an already obviously good youngster).
I'd sooner have Carroll than not, yeah...at least he had a good half season at NUFC. Haven't seen anything about Henderson to suggest he's even an £6-8m player, sorry.

agreed im just saying from a point of view that for a couple million more we prob cud ave downing who is proven and who IMO with the positions we need filling etc the more reliable choice in regards to where we are and where we need to get to as a club ie CL

So he's been making enquiries for players who he then insults with this comment?

Brilliant. What a guy. Why wouldn't you want to go and play for him?
I trust the King, but if we lose a few more on the trot now - he may have to step aside, and we have to purchase another manager in the middle of the season. If we are relegated, this could be the end of our ambitions to win any title the next 100 years.

The comparison is people will think he's crap because he seemingly might not contribute. Some of the criticisms of Lucas are being repeated in this thread.

He's played poorly over the past two games and I see no harm in saying it.

To write him off based on two games isn't logical but by the same notion it's laughable so many are saying how promising he's looked based on these two games.

But people who watched him for Sunderland have said he looked good , heck even Sunderland fans have come on here and said we have signed a huge talent , but above all that people are backing him because he is our player , so no offence but its not laughable whatsoever.

Judging him in a side managed by Pearce in 2 games that means nothing in terms of how he will play for us makes me chuckle though.
Of course it's laughable that it's only right to judge him on 2 games if your judgement is positive.

I'm not disputing he may have looked good for Sunderland, what I'm saying is that in the only two games since he signed for us he's played poorly and people are not wrong in saying that and neither should they be hounded out.

Saying he played poorly doesn't mean people aren't backing him, people are being far too sensitive in here.

Match video of Jordan Henderson against us during the 2-2 back in September 2010

Wow, very good performance, I can see some of the reasons Kenny would be interested in him, he hardly gives the ball away and ball retention is something we really need to work on especially when you play the smaller teams.

I wasn't happy that we'd spent that much money on the lad and even questioned why we bought him but there is too much scrutiny on the lad at the moment. I reckon he did fine against Spain. Some of his long passes were awful but I liked his touches, his movement and his quick thinking in general. I reckon training with Gerrard and Lucas his game will improve and Kenny will get him playing how he wants. Wait till he plays for us.

he's using a valuation technique where he compares prices based on a players ability...all very believable, but in reality, the valuation is more subtle than that because of contract situation and whether the player wants to move/stay or not...i like harry ,i think hes a card ...great eye for a player and a character with it...i admire the fella and when he talks, you can hear a respect he has for us.
he looks after himself but the respect is still there.

Personally I think Wilshere is ridiculously overrated. Can't tackle, doesn't score, tiny amount of assists, weak positioning, etc. His technique and his passing range are decent, but not out of this world, and certainly not enough to justify the constant praise he gets. The fact that sixteen million for Jack pissin' Wilshere is laughed at is some indication to me that the world is bloody mad.

I don't think me meant it literally, he is just pissed off at a ridiculous bid. He said in a SSN interview that he rates Hendo, and he usually has pretty good things to say about LFC too. I don't think it was a dig at any players that have been signed, more a dig at the transfer fee.

Michael Jordan - Jordan Henderson

For some reason I don't think Hendo will be sporting Jordan on the back of his top, it really wasn't as obvious as you think it is, this is a Liverpool forum would it not be natural for someone to think of Carra when the number 23 is mentioned?

We can also leak out that (Magic) Johnson and (David) Robinson plays for us too...
