Moyes won't want a relegation on his CV. He'll fuck off before he technically takes them down. They'll continue to struggle and in January they won't sign many players or narrowly miss out on a few and he'll quit citing 'lack of backing' or such other nonsense.

He's a coward, a terribly average manager and he's got such a high opinion of himself for being a steady manager at a small club for a decade.

Money for old rope, signing all his old cronies. Probably be gone around March, they'll get someone in for six games to save them. And repeat. And repeat. And repeat.

I feel sorry for Sunderland fans. Moyes trying to re-create the past by signing has-beens is probably their worst nightmare. It's like he's trying very hard to get the sack

So according to Lorient's President, Sunderland paid €20m, plus add-ons for Ndong. If true, that's about Ł3m more than Sunderland have claimed. The player's salary increases 10 to 12 times higher than it was at Lorient. It sounds like they also bid four times for him from €12m to €20m. The fee is half of Lorient's operating budget for an entire season and is more than Dortmund spent on Dembele. Hilariously, given Sunderland's relegation woes, Lorient also felt it was a good time to sell because Ndong was likely going to the African Cup of Nations and therefore they couldn't rely on him for portions of the season.

Might have had the worst window of any club in the PL. They never seem to learn. Every year they spend and spend so much money on absolute shite.  How they paid Ł8m for Djilobodji when Chelsea didn't even pay half that and he couldn't even get a game for Werder Bremen, who were so bad last season that they should have been relegated and likely will this year is beyond belief. Around Ł6m on McNair and Love. Having to bring in Anichebe because they only had two proper forwards and one of them got injured (Borini); having to petition FIFA to get in a back-up keeper (Mika) due to a registration mix-up. Fucking around with signing M'Vila in their position is ridiculous. Getting only Ł2m for Giaccherini, who went to a club who just sold a player for Ł75m is daft. Allardyce's three signings last January were what kept them up (Kone, Kirchhoff and Khazri). I remember in the window for 2013/14, there were people in the transfer forum, who thought that some of their abysmal summer signings were great. They signed 19 players in 2013/14 during both windows. There's only four left in the team: Mannone, Mavrias (who they can't seem to get rid of), Borini (who they signed permanently the following season) and Watmore. Best thing for them might be to go down, flush out what they have and actually try to invest in and have more homegrown youth come into the mix.

Not sure going down is a good option for them .Most of the lot they can't get rid off arent good enough for PL so doubt anyone will be Interested for them to flush out the useless.
Also they are in huge debts which are spiralling so they desperately need the PL money otherwise could end up like Bolton and going down leagues

I'm starting to think that Sam Allardyce is a better manager than people give him credit, the fact that he got this dreadful side to stay in the Premier League was a brilliant achievement.

Sunderland are awful all over the park and are the equivalent of what Aston Villa were last season.

The only decent player they have is Defoe, you take him out of the team and they would be a 5th place League 1 side.

hes a lot better - the man is elite when it comes to the lower to mid prem level side, but to be fair kone scored a hattrick against a Sam allardyce team early in his reign

Don't they do that every year though? Get a new manager in mid season and just survive. Advocaat and Di Canio have done similar in recent years. Moyes finally taking them down would be fun.

I think what he done with Bolton showed his brilliance.

Last season when it was Rafa v Sam in terms of keeping their team up I always knew Sam would prevail. Obviously Rafa a higher class manager but at that level I wouldnt back anybody against Sam

Massive loss for them today. Two  nil up at home with half an hour to play and they manage to lose 3-2.  First time that they scored more than two this season. Whatever you think of Allardyce, he performed wonders keeping them up with his signings of Kone, Khazri and Kirchhoff. Van Aanholt is the only player other than Defoe to score for them in their opening six games

Thing is they always start this badly and still somehow survive relegation every season. They haven't won a game in August or September in 3 seasons .So they started just as bad in last 3 and yet survived
Just hope the turd if flushed finally they still have a long way to go.
