Hierro, Campo, Djorkaeff, Okocha

I'm very aware of the ageing flair players he has signed, it is just the image I have of him. Probably from following BigSam on Twitter.

To be fair that was really hard for the linesman, still was onside though
it was a hard call, but unless he's 100% sure, then he can't raise the flag.
no way could he have been sure unless he has laser eyes.
football's just a lottery these days.

I can live with todays lino call its hard for him, its a goal, but there you go

The Everton one was an absolute travesty and diabolical the way it was given. Not even nearly offside, Pressure from the fans behind him and he sticks his flag up like a bullied little boy. 3-2 win all day and we have 2 less points than we should have

Surprised they didn't show the trip on Agger in the 2nd half. Thought it was a decent penalty shout.

having good goals disallowed doesn't help though.
they should either give the attacker the benefit of the doubt or just bring in video tech.

as it is, linesmen just seem to be guessing and its really fucking annoying.

I meant that we should already be in a winning position in a match, that a decision like that couldn't affect us. But still poor decisions seem to go against us more often than not

Cant stand Lineker..with his snide little comments and sniggering boysclub...the best MOTD's recently have been those fronted by Gabby Yorath
who manages to tone down the unfunny macho bollocks in the studio...and keeps the toecurling banter to a minimum

See also Murray who seems to want to emulate the boring jug-headed Leicester fucker......bring back Gabby...ther only presenter who can actually carry the show

Wrong angle to look for off-side.

Eh ?? Why is it ?

The line they have drawn is parallel to the goal line and edge of the 6yrd box and the defender's foot is clearly closer to the goal than any part of Enrique's body that he can play the ball with.

Yeah, it all evens itself out. ::)

It does - every legitimate goal we have ruled out incorrectly for offside, Arsenal are award an goal incorrectly when it should have been called offside :D

Think about it from the linesmans point of view, Chico is heading away from goal and Enrique is heading to it, now with that momentum it would look like a blatant offside from his point of view, so u cannot critisize the linesman for that. If they had a review system then it would be perfect but there is none just the linesman so he can't be blamed for something like that.  Too hard a call.

So, why did he call it then ? If he can't be 100% certain, as you imply, then he can not say he's offside.

Whichever way you look at it, by your logic, the linesman can not flag for offside.

The thing is the linesman usually flags for offisde in this situation, as he isn't sure it's easier to flag offside rather than allowing an offside goal (not this situation ofc).
Must admint Cesc is a great prospect new him before he went to Arsenal, same with Pique(now at ManU) and Messi also from Barcelona. Watch out for these guys in the future look very good.

Get him in the scouting team ASAP!

Just shows time and time again what a shit rule offside actually is expecting a human being to look in two places at once.

But it's onside and we have been screwed over again. I dunno how most of you are so apathetic about it I'm getting tired of it now

AFAIK it's from either Sky or MOTD2. Why would they do that ?

Agree 100%

Especially when you consider that other teams, that we are competing with, this season have been allowed to score goals that were blatantly offside (and I mean not even close but yards offside)

I said at the time of Enrique's 'goa'l and I've been saying it for a few years now - officials try their best to disallow our goals.  Whenever there's a close call it seems they always go on the side of not allowing it (Everton, Chelsea cup final etc)
I'm almost paranoid enough to think it stems back to the Garcia goal in 2005 and it's been payback ever since!

Very good until he mentions Pat Nevin.

True, Nevin aside, it does make some good points, particularly about Richardson, who's on the Football League highlights show and even then very briefly. Would love to see him being given a crack at Match of the Day, Football Italia in the 90's was awesome in itself but having Richardson there elevated Channel 4's coverage. He could do it again here, though admittedly, it'd help if he had some interesting people opposite him, as he did when he was at Channel 4 and now at the Guardian.
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.
