There was that guy at rangers who didn’t get his acl repaired and carried on playing.  Not sure how he faired though

He wouldn't have had surgery. There's some good evidence to suggest that you don't need the ACL repair and can return to your previous level but most clubs have a personal preference for the repair. Every player I've rehabbed have said they feel much more stable with their rehab after surgery than they did before.

Fat sam give him some spray and a magic sponge once over and he was fine. Can't believe soft arses take 9 months to get back on the pitch after an ACL

Love your insight on this stuff mate. Really appreciate it.

I remember Alou Diarra of West Ham doing his ACL in August and was back playing in November for them. Always had that in mind when I hear of ACL injuries and then Sam Allardyce talking about a miracle recovery. Is it though, or did you just start playing him again as soon as he could put weight on it.
Like you that one stuck in my mind, probably because he was a former Red.  At the time it felt like West Ham were short-changing him by not providing the care you'd expect for a professional athlete.  He'd been very critical of West Ham in general and Fat Sam is just Fat Sam.

Wasn't it like a year or so after that "comeback" that he actually played anything resembling regular football again, and even that was in the Championship?

Our treatment of AOC seems to be the other extreme.  FSG seem to have a bit of sporting romance about them but ultimately are hard-nosed business people.  AOC is 25 years old and contracted to us until 2022 so the maths on that one is simple; platinum care and rehab = higher chance of valuable asset and lower chance of expensive liability.  As an LFC fan though it's just great to hear that his rehab is going well and it would be such a result if he's able to power through a proper pre-season this summer.

Has there been any news on Brewster?  Gotta be close to returning to training now, right?  We could really do with another pacey forward option for the rest of the season and if we're not dipping into the transfer market then he's got to be worth a try.

Came to post that. Last update I heard was months ago and he was supposed to be back in training last December.

I don't think it's purely pragmatic. I think Klopp feels a genuine duty of care to and concern about the well-being of his players.

Ironically enough last time we played Brighton at their place we played with 3 at the back due to injuries, we may have to do the same again. Fabinho,Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, would be interesting.

We have enough injuries without rushing people back, we can't afford to do that. It's a perfect example of why we needed to do what we did tonight.

Just seen James Pearce has said minor injury. Literally pointless him being here, just never fit to play. And for a player that takes a while to going again, not great.

Can't say we didn't set ourselves up for this one. We went into the season with just 4 first team CB's, two of whom we know are perennial crocks in Lovren and Matip. Lovren wasn't even available for the start of the season ffs.

On paper yes, but given the injury records of both Matip and Lovren is was risky. Plus Gomez was only just recovering from massive injury set backs as well.

One game to get through at Brighton and then hopefully it eases again.

Seems like Fabinho is our best bet there. You’d hope anyone playing alongside Virgil will get a bit of an armchair ride. Could also do with him in midfield too of course but again, needs must, Hendo Gini plus one should still be enough.

I'm not sure I'd worry too much about these kind of reports. Virtually all players carry minor injuries through the season; goes with the territory. Klopp probably just mentioned these "little things" with Hendo, VVD, etc. tonight to stave off the usual moans about devaluing the competition and disgracing the club (oh hai Colin!)

I actually think it is the opposite. VVD is so immense that nearly all the attacks will go at the other CB.
