And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

just want to state first of all that i am a massive fan of rafa's and a believer in most of the things he is trying to do and decisions he has made.

one thing that is beginning to piss me off however is that he keeps putting cisse on the right. it started happening before cisse got injured and has continued to do so. while cisse has been adequate on the right i just feel he would be far more dangerous down the middle. no defender in the premiership could cope with his pace he is strong and direct and i think he would also create a lot more space for the likes of morientes. also with alonso and gerrard behind him picking the passes it could be lethal as sides would have to sit a lot deeper giving more space to our midfielders in front of goal.

just wondering has it been pissing anyone else off?

Considering we bought as an out and out striker, it does seem a bit strange that he is on the right wing quite a lot.  Stick up front, thats what we bought him for

Cisse's only really come back in to the side as a sub after a long lay off, and the right side is often our problem area in games, as Nunez is ineffective and Garcia likes to drift inside, so it's not really all that suprising, considering Cisse's pace, we have found im operating there, sometimes before his injury too

But he's a striker, I agree

Pace on its own is not that hard to defend against, especially if you are a visting team at Anfield. Its the exact same method that teams used against us for the last 4 or 5 years, which resulted in us dropping points because we had no other way of breaking a team down.

gareth, i understand pace alone is not enough to open defences but in the last 4 or 5 years we have not had players with the creative ability of alonso, garcia and morientes. we have seen this year how many goals are midfield can score so therefore if sides sit deep they will have more opportunities. also under houillier we did not attack sides in the same way we sometimes do under benitez. i also think if we can paly the ball down the channels cisse can stretch sides by pulling out right and therefore creating space for garcia, morientes, riise and gerrard to exploit.

another thing if sides do sit deep it will give us the opportunity to get more crosses in and with players of morientes quality in the box this will lead to goals. cisse is also a big lad so he would be dangerous in the air as well. another thing about sides sitting back and us exploiting this is in the last 4 -5 years our full backs were not given as much freedom to push forward as they are now and this makes us more dangerous. not many sides could cope with us if we had finnan and riise pushing forward from full back, kewwll and garcia on either flank, cisse and morientes through the middle and i haven't mentioned gerrard or alonso yet. playing the way benitez wants us to play we would comfortably beat all the sides outside the top 3 at anfield and judging by the way we played against juve at home we would beat the top 3 as well. fortress anfield is on its way back. sort out are away form and we will challenge for the title next season.

If you go back to the beginning of the season before his injury when he was playing forward next to Baros people were wondering if their partnership would flourish, and they were really struggling with their finishing and not scoring that many goals.  I thought that when he was moved a little bit to the right he became more dangerous because of his pace and skill.  I agree that he is not a winger though and he is probably more suited for a free role up front similar to Henry.  When you look at Henry he is not a striker but a forward that moves around, sometimes in the wing, sometimes in the middle, sometimes getting the ball deep and creating plays.  That's how i think Cisse could play when fully fit to take advantage of all his qualities.

If we continue to play him out of position he will become another Emile!
Or he could become another Thiery Henry/Ray Kennedy, either adapting to the wing and making that space his own, especially if we go from playing two strikers to one. Or he may learn from the experience and improve his game as a striker because he knows how to move into the right hand channels and knows the role of a right winger.

Riise has said this season that he is much more comfortable in his job as a left mid because he knows the role of the left back behind him. Or vice versa when he plays left back. Playing in different positions will not always ruin a player. Look at some of the Ajax players over the years. I think the De Boer brothers each played virtually every position for their club sides and holland over the course of their careers.

Heskey is a totally different striker to Cisse but even he looked good at times on the right of mid though, not the left. If he had played on the right of an attacking front 3 (Kewell - Owen - Heskey) i think he could have been effective. But players with pace and ability to control that ball at pace, (Henry, Cisse, FSP) will adapt better to that position than someone like Heskey. Even though he didnt like it, Craig Bellamy was very effective on the right for Newcastle when they needed him there.

Its not always a bad move changing a players position.

at the beginning of the season we had him and baros up front, baros is a headless cheicken and has only one site - goal, but he hasnt proven in the premier league to be as clinical as a striker we need.  cisse has proved himself in a rather lackluster french leage, but from what i have seen he has the pace, ability and also the build to shrug off players.  it is mouthwatering to think about how deadly morientes and cissie will be.  cisse now has somebody to play off and morientes has a striker with a brain who will run a defence ragged creating openings for him.

im really looking forward to seeing this partnership grow, definatley

If you buy a great striker you should put him up front, if you want a great winger, then you should go and buy one thats the way i look at it, and i think his right of midfield position is just temporary until a decent right winger comes in the summer so its  nothing to worry about

There is a very big danger of Rafa wasting Cisse and bringing in other (Spanish) players, playing them down the middle and then forcing Cisse to leave without ever having a proper run at the striker role he was brought in for.

Yes, this may all change if SWP turns up on the right but it really worries me that Rafa is squandering a talent just to accomodate Moro AND his one striker policy.

In the Prem, direct raw pace and aggressive play must be included to pierce defences. We cannot finesse our way through team like Blackburn, Everton etc.

Wednesday night needs Cisse or Baros to start (I wish both but Rafa is too cautious) just to keep Chelsea on the back foot for that crucial first 20 mins. Unfortunately I think will be play it just like the Carling Cup and beg them not to hurt us for the entire first have.

That first stanza will be a good time to counter and I would prefer Cisse (Garcia behind him) if only one of the two will get to start because Baros had his knock on Saturday.
