That Hummels tackle isn't a foul. He gets the ball FFS. VAR and all refs are not fit for purpose and are slowly ruining the game (not even that slowly any more). It looked a pen 1st viewing but when you have the benefit of a replay to see he wins the ball and you still give the pen then it's either a) corruption (backing up your mate) or b) incompetence

if that is a foul, there is little hope, it was a challenge from a centra half you’ll see exectued with no repercussion every week.

Absolutely, the striker went for the "foul" pretty quickly, no attempt to continue playing, really hammed it up.
Crazy that it was given.

To be honest, I’d rather Arsenal go through. They’ve a better chance of beating the cheating scum than Porto would.

Oh they will go through, but I would like to see Arsenal hit a bit of a snag. We need a momentum brake.  A loss or a draw away from home would be nice.

I used to think it was unfair, but they actually need to bring back the away goal rule. It feels like a lot of these first legs have been pretty boring, with teams happy to settle with a draw or narrow loss.

Mixed bag I think. 0-0 at home nowhere near as good a result for an underdog.

Teams used to concentrate on not conceding at home, in hope of playing for a draw away.

Still expect Arsenal to go through but unless they blow Porto away in the first 20 minutes, they'll be forced to work hard for it.

We used to slap this Porto team about.
I reckon they celebrated when they found out we wouldn't be in it, and vowed not to finish third in their group lest they get their annual trouncing!

Great goal.  Think Arsenal will beat them over here, but at least now they'll have to put out their best team for it.

And they play Saturday night.

No Rice in the return leg could be significant.

they’ll have to play their strongest side in the 2nd leg now. Beating Porto 5-0 away isn’t for everyone. Or 4-1. Or 5-1 (was it?). So many, I can’t remember!

Yep, Arse are still faves to go through; but it has to be said that for a nation with the population of Portugal, their ability to produce such gifted players is phenomenal.

They’d spent a good few minutes making out like Rice had channeled his inner Edgar Davids (which is obviously below his normal level but still pretty good) and he then gives it away cheaply (which they bizarrely bigged up!) and than shit out for the goal

I've always said the intensity of the CL as it progresses, will aid us in dragging our rivals and stretching their squad. Arsenal going through would be a good thing, 2 more fixtures, and more commitment needed from them.

The ideal is for them and the cheats to get tough quarter-final draws that push them to extra time, face each other in the semis (which goes to penalties), and then, for fun, they can try beating Real Madrid in the final. Although I'd rather that shower of twats didn't win it either.
