"The key isn't the system itself, but how the players adapt on the pitch. It doesn't matter if it's 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, it's the role of the players that counts." Rafa Benitez
Must be since the Hyypia days when we have won so many offside decisions. He has that back line drilled.
20/1 POTY. We would need to be still chasing in the league but if we are when the voting is cast he has a very legit shot
Got him and Alisson both at 33/1 in the summer. [emoji41]
Normally a player can look great on tubes, but one of the things that's encouraging for me is just the amount of youtube videos on him
Really need a gif of the dribble while whistling
Anyone notice his celebration at setting up 2nd ?Like he was waiting for Firmino to thank him for the assist but it never came and he fumed 😂
Where?
Any gif of that happening?
Ah I see It’s on the goal for 1-2 to us. Can’t find a gif annoyingly
The only thing he is missing is goals. Sami contributed 3-5 goals a season for us, and hopefully Virgil can start doing that as well, considering how good he is in the air, he's been rather unlucky for us this season.
I'd like to see him take over the captaincy from Hendo
The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.
MOTM for them (unfortunately), I don't think I've seen a better CB at the Turf
World class player
I think if you asked all premier league strikers who the best centre back currently is in the premier league I think 80% would say Van Dijk. He's a monster.
Best CB in prem
Brilliant. I swear I saw him whistling while controlling the ball and stepping past two of our players .
That big, that fast and that good at positioning makes him an absolute roll-royce of a player.
This moment?
It's interesting if he can ever win Ballon D'Or. I don't remember it given to any defender but Beckenbauer. But I'd cross my fingers for him, he's worth it.
And there were plenty more replies like that. Other clubs have realized just how good he really is. Except Everton of course, because they have a better player in Michael Keane.
The only thing he is missing is goals. Sami contributed 3-5 goals a season for us,
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.
Not in the league he didn't, his best ever PL tally was 4 in 03/04. After that season his goals tally was 2-1-2-1-1 in the league.Virgil's only in the door, am sure the goals will come for him.
Doesn't get involved in the niggly stuff. Like pushing and shoving, squaring up to players or getting in the referee's face. Keeps the yellow cards to a minimum.
I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.
After watching him this season. Arguably one of Liverpool most effective signings in the last 5 years. Been lacking for soooo long. The solid CB we can build around. Plays for the cause. I dont think the world class term flying around is way off.
