Had problems with his attitude in PSG, and probably a change of team was nec. for his further development.
I think a player like Toure will be key to make Sakho the player he has potential to be. Toure is an ideal role model for the guy, and they can connect from the start since they both speak french.

It's been interesting for me reading about the problems Sakho has had at PSG the last couple of years. I saw quite a lot of him when he was younger and always thought he was destined to be one of the best defenders in the world. Haven't watched him much recently, he was always in the category of unattainable as far as I was concerned - and when we were linked I still didn't believe it. I knew he hadn't been playing much, and had vaguely seen mention of this Brazilian cartel type situation amongst PSG's defenders but seeing that there's been supposed attitude issues and stuff about him being made captain too young etc. I'm going to be honest it almost pleases me more than if it was just that Silva wanted to play alongside Brazilians because of the language barrier.

He's 23. It's very rare, even today, for young centre-backs to get as much football as he did from 17 onwards. And it's not like he wasn't brilliant to begin with, because that was back when I was watching him fairly regularly and he really was. But defenders of that age in particular they will always make a few mistakes, they will always develop in peaks and troughs and when you throw in the added pressure of the captaincy plus owners throwing money around like there's no tomorrow - it's really easy to see why, at 23 it's all gone a bit stale for him.

He's still got the talent and potential he had when he was 17, the potential to be one of the best defenders in the world. I couldn't be more pleased (and a little surprised) that we've managed to sign him.
Balotelli, Falcao, Cavani...

I'll be shocked if it's anyone other Etoo. Etoo or no-one. Simples.

In fact, I'll do you all a favor and ban myself from the January transfer window forum if we get anyone other than Etoo.

No way of knowing. PSG are leaking 19m Euros to their friendly journos, but if that's true that'll include every single add-on etc. But something more than £10m seems likely from what the usual bunch of worthwhile journos in this country are saying.

^Interesting read that article. It doesn't overly concern me as we all wanted to use these kind of things to our advantage, targetting potentially top class players who have the odd problem that needs ironed out. Hopefully a move away from his hometown and to a new country will encourage him to work hard and be professional, because if he doesn't then we have the depth that means he won't get into the side otherwise. I think he'll do just fine in that respect, to be honest.

Difficult to talk about him as a player as I've seen a grand total of one youtube compilation but from everything I've read he seems exactly the kind of player we've been crying out for. Between him and Toure I think the days of our CBs being bullied are over. Think we have a really nice balance now and a number of players with different qualities that can be used to suit different tactical needs (e.g. Skrtel playing when we are anticipating defending deep but maybe not when we want to maintain a high-line) and to cover for the inevitable injuries (Skrtel appears increasingly prone to injuries, Toure is a wee bit older, and Agger is quite often carrying niggles that he's required to play through).

Just really pleased our defence no longer seems a massive weak point really!
Also think Kolo will be a great influence on him and put his arm around him an have a word when needs be.

To be fair mate, we could sign someone from the  Uzbekistan 3rd division and you'd have loads of people on here telling you all about them. Was the same with sahin. All these experts claimed he was world class and could play as the holding midfielder, as an attacking midfielder as a box to box player. Then after a few games he was being played out of position even tho he was supposed to be able to play anywhere in midfield.   Just do what I do. Watch the player play for us then form an opinion.

Some photos we may not have seen from his signing. Man is built like a tank.

For what it's worth, those comments below are all very complimentary to both him and us. All thanking him, saying he'll remain in their hearts, he'll help revive our fortunes, he's joined a mythical club, they look forward to seeing him back etc etc.

Quite different to the 'fuck off you traitorous c*nt' type comments you normally see.

Another song idea (to the tune of Let It Be):

Mamadouu Mamadouu, Mamadouu Mamadouu,
He came from les Rouges et Blue
Mamadouu Mamadouu

(Yes, I know it's "les rouges et bleus", but for the sake of rhyming I wrote blue).
