Why wasn't he in the squad yesterday? Injured?

He's 4th choice striker.  That's why.

He should have been on the bench, and if he was he should have been brought on along with Origi up front to stretch them and inject some pace.

You can't stretch a team that defends 20 yards from their goal.

Think he might struggle for games this season.

Considering that it won't be easy keeping Sturridge and Origi in game shape, Ings would be better off considering a loan for this season just as Sakho.
One thing does need to be said: in the post-Benitez era, there was media-led clamour (but also some politicking going on at the club) to make the club more English; the idea being that the club had lost the very essence of what it means to be ‘Liverpool’. Guillem Ballague 18/11/10

He'll get some minutes here and there. Probably would have come on the other day against Burton if it wasn't for Emre picking up that injury.

Gotta feel sorry for the lad, injured last season when we really could do with him. Now he's fit, we're a little spoilt for choice given Klopp prefers one striker.

Can't seeing him getting minutes in our next two league games either: Leicester(H), Chelsea(A). Derby in the EFL after that maybe.

I'd expect one of Origi or Sturridge to start the EFL game too. Whichever doesn't start the league games around it.

Eurgh, so much facepalm

We've played four games. He'll get plenty of game time this season.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Klopps shown he's not going to rotate much. I like Ings but wouldn't be surprised if he barely sees the pitch this season.

Interesting that lot of people assumed he be perfect for klopp, also that he was ahead of Origi. It's going be interesting to see how this season pans out for him, I am sure he will fight all the way though.

If we are loaning Sakho out for playing time then we should be loaning out Ings for playing time.

All will be revealed with the length of the loan for Sakho. If it's till January then that coincides with Matip going to the ACN but if it's a year then Sakho is done at Liverpool.
If Ings is loaned out for a year, how he performs on loan will dictate whether he comes back.

Might need to do a Kuyt and convert into a wide player to get any love here. He is quite rapid and a real buzzsaw so cold do a job on the other side of Mane

He's seems to have a great attitude. I look forward to him playing again.

It doesnt say that much. We are flush with cash so trying to do a cash grab for more players would have meant even more positions we are short on. Ings is a higher standard of player than Smith or Flanagan to sell ourselves short.

I can't help but feel he should have gone on loan (only after having a full pre-season with us of course). He's back from a very delicate and lengthy injury spell. Games under less pressure would be great for him. I think that will be the outcome come January.

Saw him poncing around on Georgia Gibbs' (some Australian instagram model) snapchat story the other day, oh how the other half live, he's doing well for himself  ;)

In all seriousness hope we see him on the pitch soon. Think he is what we're lacking up front to an extent.

Fitness reason most likely.

We are building up his match fitness like we did with Sturridge have to assume .
Otherwise makes zero sense really .

How much longer is this going to go on? He's been in full training for about 5 months.

Personally I don't think it is fitness.

Always possible in post serious injury situations that he's been performing absolutely shite in training... Can't claim or be granted an automatic spot on the bench based on his performances from 12 months ago!!

He's 4th choice striker.  Not sure how long it is going to take for people to understand this.  There is absolutely no need to have both Ings and Origi on the bench so Ings is going to miss out more often then not this year.  He'll get cup games and will play when there are injuries or suspensions.

He got his chance in pre season and it ended as expected when the main players came back. Now he has to take his chance in training and playing for the u23s where unfortunately for him 16 year old Woodburn is currently outshining and outscoring him.

Think he is what we're lacking up front to an extent.

We aren't lacking anything up front.

It's hard to see how he'll get back into the team. Sturridge, Firmino and Origi are all ahead of him and playing well.

He may have to play out wide but that would mean dropping Coutinho, Mane or Lallana and that isn't going to happen.

Maybe he'll get a game or two in the Cups. Unfortunately we don't have any matches in Europe and for me that's where he would have been used.

He will really need to play outstanding if and when he gets his chance.
