It's bizarre really. There's been so much written about this guy and so many conclusions come to already, yet I feel like I've only seen him play about five minutes football in a Liverpool shirt.

I feel the same. But that's his fault tbf for getting that stupid red card and screwing his own momentum.

I've never seen anything like it to be honest. Since when are people judging a player even on his training ground "performances"??? Let's get behind the lad cause he has all the tools to make it here but all these scrutiny and hate will break even the best of players, never mind a 23 year old coming to a new league with that fee hanging over his head.

unfortunately some dickheads decided his yard stick of success is Haaland, which is total unfair, he needs to be good enough to start first and foremost

the issue is that the team overall isn’t balanced right now, i’m sure a plan will emerge and he will be a success long term but it will take a while

Haaland should have been sent off himself but stayed on to score a hat-trick and then a load more goals in games he should have been banned in. An early lesson obviously over discipline - but the fact he plays for Liverpool, you won't get away with anything. We play to different rules than them.

That's the attention span of most of the teenagers posting shite on social media.

The internet is the perfect outlet for people of low intelligence to put forward an opinion with no context, evidence or rationale - mainly for the benefit of other people of similarly low intelligence to agree (or argue) with them. Things that they'd never say in public or down the pub, as they'd get laughed at or punched (or both).

Any sensible fan (and especially a Liverpool fan) wouldn't make a judgement until:

a) He's played a decent number of games
b) We have a functioning midfield, and we can play our prefered starting 11
c) The individual players, team and system are running smoothly

Anyone making judgements at this early stage without taking the above points into account is a brainless moron and not worth engaging with.

Very true. If Abu Dhabi were refereed the same as us, then Haaland would 100% have been sent off and received a 3 match ban.

We'd have two more league titles if the refs sent Kompany off and blew for a pen after Rodri's handball.

All true. Not only have they had the unlimited state funds cheat codes, they’ve also had almost every major refereeing decision go in their favour.

We'd have had three because Sterling's two at Maine Road or whatever they call it back in 13/14 would've counted...

He's a far superior player than Haaland based on todays games.

Well seeing as sample sizes are apparently unimportant anymore I  feel that's a fair assessment.

Couple of perfect crosses and a great volleyed long pass from Suarez in there.

Shame Nunez couldn't keep that volley down, would have been a great confidence boost.

Suarez is a boss footballer that has shown us how to use Darwin. What a player he was for us!

The volley doesn't matter because he scored not too long after. Hopefully he can go on a run know because strikers need goals just like how a fish needs water.

They didn't hesitate to look for him via crosses from the right with him peeling off to the left. We definitely have the personnel to implement it. Even if it doesn't lead to a goalscoring opportunity, he can knock it down for someone else. We don't need him on the right wing trying to beat a man then cross because we have other players that are better at those things.

Yeah. Well taken goal but not particularly impressive highlights otherwise. His inability to control the ball with his feet or even take it down on his chest is a little concerning.

The jury is still out but I am not seeing much that screams “this fella will definitely turn into a 20-30 goal a season all comps player yet.

He looks like a player whose form and sharpness are dictated by how confident he's feeling in the moment and one that often overthinks stuff rather than playing to enjoy himself in a more natural way.

At this moment in time, it's highly debatable whether he's an improvement on Origi. It often feels like his brain and his body are slightly out of sync. It's almost like he knows what he wants to do but his body doesn't quite adjust accordingly to do it.

It's strange because from what we saw of him with Benfica at Anfield, he looked like a ferocious and direct player, but I suppose that comes back to him being a confidence-reliant player on the whole. His start here so far would have certainly eroded some of that confidence and he also spoke about how nervous he was during his first few weeks, so that definitely plays into it.

I don't see him being a guaranteed starter any time soon (Bobby / Jota are far superior in different ways) but I think he'll come into his own the longer he's here and once expectations calm down somewhat.

His touch and technique won't significantly improve at this stage of his career. His position on the pitch and the tactical approach need to account for that. He will never be a Bobby Firmino that's why we look better as a unit when Bobby plays behind him.

He doesn't need to be a great player, he just needs to score goals and from what i've seen of him he'll be a 20 goals a year striker for us when he settles in the team. John Aldridge wasn't a great player technically but he knew where the goal was. With the sending off and the international nonsense we won't really see what he's about until after the sport washing cup in November

We don't need him on the right wing trying to beat a man then cross because we have other players that are better at those things.

We really need to free up some space for Trent on that right side again, Salah's delivery is great too but he's typically so heavily marked that he struggles to get them off regularly. Making room for Trent to overlap should benefit both and give us a lot more service for the other forwards.
