Surprised there's not a thread on this already.

For me Phoenix Nights is up there with the greatest comedies of all time and Peter Kay has just said on Jonathon Ross that he has already written the entire 3 series which is fucking boss.

Watched both series again recently, and it is very funny. Loads of little jokes I didn't remember from watching it first time round.

I love the episode when Jerry's dying on stage at the 'alternative comedy night'...then he turns it round & rips this heckling student to shreds.

Talent Trek was a classic too......"It's Michelle Coffee!" (with Right Said Frank as backing band). Cracked me up.

I've got the box set of the first 2 series but haven't watched them in ages.  Thought it was a brillliant programme though and always laugh at the out takes.

Reckon a third series would be good even though I'm not that keen on Peter Kay

If Peter Kay has written the entire 3rd series on his own it'll be shite.

A 3rd series will never see the light of day due to artistic differences between Peter Kay and other cast members.

Artistic or personal? By all accounts, Peter Kay is a difficult man to work with

Artistic turning into personal.

At least 2 of his co-stars from phoenix nights no longer speak to him and have passed comment on their unwillingness to film any more phoenix nights.

Daniel Kitson (Spencer) definitely refused to work with him again. Also said Kay was in the habit of taking credit for other people's idea's.

I loved Phoenix Nights when it was on, haven't watched it in ages though, Peter Kay got a bit tiresome when he was popping up everywhere. Especially when his material stayed exactly the same.

Phoenix Night's looks like his high watermark, everything since has been terrible.

Loved these two series. Managed the first episode of the 'Max and Paddy...' spin off before I realised how piss poor it was. Check out the Shooting Stars 'Masterchef/Peter Kay' sketch to see why.

Such a shame that Peter, David Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice all fell out.  Seems really bitter too.

Saw Peter Kay on Johnathon Ross this weekend too.

Me too and it was utterly crigeworthy as with most of Peter Kaye's appearances these days.

Rossy ignoring argueably Kayes' best work in Phoenix nights and cranked up the cringe-o-meter by showng us clips of the "Hilarious" Geraldine and SuBo back to back singing "I know him so well'

Rossy, as a joke mentions that Peter looks like he really enjoys dressing up as a woman.

'Yes i do enjoy it actually Jonathan".

No kidding Peter you un-funny crossdressing blert.  Worst drag act I have EVER seen in my life as Kaye appears to have TOTALLY missed the point of it.  Your not actually supposed to look 100% like a woman. (see Barry Humphries, Paul O'Grady, Julian Clarey, Les Dawson etc etc  for how it's supposed to be done).

He really does need to fuck that Geraldine alter-ego off quickly and just keep his cross-dressing fetish behind closed doors.

Looks like Phoenix Nights is getting a new series. Looks like Neil Fitzmaurice and Dave Spikey have buried the hatchet with Peter Kay

Think the success of any new series has to have the backing of those 2 because everything Kay has touched since Phoenix Nights has been shite

One of the funniest Phoenix Nights moments for me was when they did the pub quiz and played the 'The music intro' round.

They played the opening few bars of the Top Gun theme tune and then stopped the record.

The whole pub carried on singing 'Take my breath away"

funny as fuck :)

Great news this, series one of Phoenix Nights is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV,

Too many great moments;

'I ordered the Matrix, I didn't order Das Boot!'

'What Opening? There's not going to be an opening, with the bloody lighthouse family singing up there!' Get Down the pair of you

'You'll be snorting Cecil next'
'Charlie?'
'Yer What?
''You mean Charlie'
'I don't him, I've never met the man'

You noticed things every time you watched it, very clever

It's a shame Kay quickly turned into parody of the very acts he was got his humour from in his early tours. He started 'observing' the broad entertainers of the 70's and 80's and became exactly the same. Making stand-up and TV shows loved by the 'Benidorm' crowd

Good news that the other two writers are on board because everything he's done since on his own has been shit
