I wonder if they'll make Rodders do a shite American accent. Or if he'll be doing a bizarre, unrecognisable British stereotype in the tradition of American sitcoms in general and Frasier in particular.

Hoping this good so we can get a Del Boy and Niles spin-off
It would be cool if the writers threw in a line in which Lyndhurst is called Dave.

Think it'll be really difficult to recreate the magic of that dynamic the original cast had.  Might need to be a different show, in the same way Frasier was a massive departure from Cheers.

I loved the old Frasier and so much of the show was about his rivalry with his brother, for that reason I am really considering giving it a miss and just remembering it for what it was instead.

Do shows still film in front of a studio audience? Seems very outdated that.

I couldn’t help watch it and think “what’s Rodney doing in frasier?”

Looks pretty rubbish but to be fair sitcoms of that type don't really work being cut into trailer form. Obviously looks a blend of Cheers and Frasier... some of it in a bar, then the new workplace (uni versus the radio station) and the family drama of father and son, with the roles reversed.

Thought it was ok, first episode is always going to be a set up for the rest of the series, hopefully it gets better but if it carries on in the same vein as the first episode I can't see it lasting long.

The review in The Guardian said it took 3 or 4 episodes to find its feet before becoming excellent.

Thought Nicholas Lyndhurst was decent. Not sure about the actor playing Frederick...maybe he needs a few episodes to relax. I think they might have to reduce the role of Niles and Daphne's kid (David i think?). He looks like he's trying to do a bad impression of Sheldon from BBT. His voice is wrong for Niles and they should have picked an actor who is slighter IMO.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it gets better.

Good tribute to my favourite character from Frasier...Martin. RIP John Mahoney.

Episode 3 was terrible.

Going to stick with it as Kelsey Grammar is just about making it watchable but the supporting case are terrible. It feels very lazy, like a zany modern sitcom with occasional throwback references to the original series.

Nines and Daphne's child is insufferable.

I wonder if Grammar banked on getting Niles committed to it when he thought of bringing it back. Totally different show if he was in it.

Is this worth sticking with (the new series)? On episode 3 and it's been bad.

Probably not if you’ve not found anything you like in those three.

I did enjoy the episode with a returning Lilith. Inspired me to go watch Lilith’s first episode in Frasier and it was, unsurprisingly, head and shoulders above. The original at its peak really was incredible.

Frasier's and Niles' son aren't great. Neither was the lady with the baby. Nicholas Lyndhurst is better than that as well. Frasier is struggling without an equal (in Niles especially).

Original was great.

The two “kids” both feel like they’re in a totally different sitcom and not even the same one.

It was never going to be on the originals level but just as standard sitcom fare I have been liking it and getting a good few laughs from it personally. Definitely makes you appreciate how brilliant the original is though!

It wasn't as funny as the original but it's OK, it's actually made me rewatch the original series which has loads of laugh out loud moments and I'm still laughing out loud. Currently midway through series 3, the one where Niles left Maris after she went missing!

I liked the cameo from Ros and there were some funny moments of course in the new one, hope they do renew it though as it has potential

The one thing i loved about Cheers and Frasier is that although they were sitcoms, the locations and sets felt real.  You could smell the beer in the bar in Cheers or the homeliness of the flat in Seattle.

This series feels like a stage set up of Harvard or their flat and it loses some of that original appeal

My wife and I have rewatched all 11 seasons of the original during the course of the year. There's 20+ episodes in each season but they're only 25 minutes long and perfect 'bite-sized' viewing.

After 20 years or so since first watching them, the original Frasier still hit's the laughter spot every time. Whether it's the razor sharp dialogue or the occasions it became absolute farce, belly laughs are guaranteed. And surprisingly sentimental in a warm cosy way at times.

I'm trying desperately to warm to the new series but the characters, settings and overall writing just isn't to the same level. I'm guessing the bar was impossibly high. Hoping they discover the formula in the second season. Getting Ros back in a regular role would be a start.
