I'd loved to have seen him play. All of his music is something special. I need to get to the Rory Festival next year.

Welcome Home - Coheed and Cambria has one of my favourite intros of any song (especially when you hear it live)

https://youtu.be/n0H3RlaQVrM?si=_30UzSHfVYdpf5i9

Going the opposite direction - what about great outros?

Bit of a rogue shout but one of my favourites is a Limp Bizkit track called Douchebag which has possibly the most Bizkit at their worst chorus but then magically finishes with an out of nowhere jazz style bit (about 3 mins 20 into it)

great outro, Uncertain Smile by The The

Banned in several US radio markets, because the term 'rumble' was a slang term for a gang fight, and it was feared that the piece's harsh sound glorified juvenile delinquency. The record is the only instrumental single ever banned from radio in the United States

Haha it isn't just me that thinks of Lucozade whenever I hear that tune. If I knew how to embed YouTube videos I'd embed this, there's a phenomenal (and extremely fast) live version of this here at 44:54 > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSyPft3H4Os

I like to think I'm pretty handy on a guitar, and even a bass, but this is just next level from Steve Harris. Totally untouchable at this speed.

I agree, it's far superior to the original version by JJ Cale.

many many great intros out there but the one that stirs me the most is War Pigs/Black Sabbath - that siren swelling up under the power chords puts chills down my spine

not my favourtie Sabbath song but defo my favourite intro

Covered brilliantly by Faith No More, which reminds me From out of Nowhere, great intro

It's probably my favourite JJ Cale cover but I don't think any of his songs were ever bettered. Certainly none by Clapton were anyway, always thought his covers of Cale's were crap.
