Is it not free anyway?

No, when i hook up the Touch, it says "update you ipod touch to the latest iphone 2.1 software for €8" Just realised its an iphone update?? Rather than an ipod touch update, but its still asking me so i assume it can be applied. What are the benefits?

Does anyone know where i can get the paid for apps for free? The ipod touch is already jailbroken, but do i need to add a new source to find them? As i've checked on the sources i do have and i'm not having any luck there.

Badly want an iPhone, but don't want to be paying a bill, nor do i want to fork out €5-600 for the pay as you go model. So if i find somewhere to import one from, if i then jailbreak it, could it then be used for any sim card i might put into it?

edit: (i've just updated to the 1.1.5 update on itunes, does that mean i need to jailbreak this ipod again?)

The program you'll be wanting is Appulous.  You can find it in Cydia after adding the following source location:

Yes.

Cheers, done a bit of reading up on it, seems the best thing to do is restore the firmware to the 1.1.4 update before jailbreaking it again, which i've downloaded but don't know how to install it to the touch now?

The invisibleSHIELD you posted earlier is meant to be good, I have used BestSkinsEver before, they're pretty good and post quickly to the UK.

Don't put my iPhone in a case as I think it loses a bit of it's stylishness. Sad, I know.

SE, in case you're worried, the screen is very durable.

Currently flipping between these for a month or so, but gonna look for some more later, in no particular order:

iWood-Realize
Honeycomb
Honeycomb blue
Vivid/Vivid Lockscreen
Brilliant Golden (Really like this one)
Chromium iphone (always left on in Winterboard as it keeps the keypad Chrome all the time, running alongside say Vivid for example)
Glossy Keyboard

I also use:
Musicplayer Gold (changes colours of ipod controls...8 colour pack)
Antique Brass Keyboard (This I feel is really classy...Get it!)
If you really want to do something, you will find a way. If you don't, you will find an excuse.

So does anyone know how i restore an older version of firmware for the ipod touch? I have the 1.1.5 but want to toll back to the 1.1.4 firmware.

And also,

Badly want an iPhone, but don't want to be paying a bill, nor do i want to fork out €5-600 for the pay as you go model. So if i find somewhere to import one from, if i then jailbreak it, could it then be used for any sim card i might put into it?

You might be able to use any chip, if you get an imported iPhone of no higher firmware than 2.1.
I think the 2.2 update changed the baseband(or something) making it a lot harder (currently{as far as I'm aware} not available) to use any sim card on FW 2.2 iPhone, wheras 2.1 and lower it is possible.
Just do your research PROPERLY before you make a commitment Bob, no matter how bad you want it, make sure you know exactly what you are going to have to do...Step by step, even before you spend the money. In the end it'll be worth it, trust me.

As for the other question, you can get the 1.1.4 fw here: http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

And just follow this:

1. Download the 1.1.4 firmware from the link above save to your desktop.
2. Once that is done, start iTunes.
3. Go to you ipod's tab on the left panel
4. Hold shift and click on the restore button.
5. This will open up a box. Select the 1.1.4 firmware from your desktop and press ok.
6. Your ipod should start restoring.

*Disclaimer* ;D
I hold no responsibility. You know the risk involved and is up to you from here :wave

Phil, Phil, Phil.....YOU FUCKING LEGEND.

What an App (and I haven't even d/loaded or installed yet!) just read what it does and thats enough, I REALLY need this, I'm already gobsmacked without even using it yet.
Amazed I haven't come across or heard of this before now. Thank you so much for the heads up on this..........We have reached another new level ;D

On a side note, anybody else having timing out issues when d/loading from Appulous at the moment?? In particular the Appscene links??
Had this problem a couple days now, annoying me, as I'm not sure if its just me or everyone, if its everyone then fine, I can wait, if not I gotta start investigating wtf is going on.

I want Jaadu, and I want it NOW!

Hoodfella, you can help me with it too, i had a dabble tonight, but wasnt sure what folder to put it in.
I did end up getting it off Appulous but actually used the 'Install' button for the first time and it worked a treat, it wasn't an Appscene link though, it was one I haven't used before.

Right been messing about trying to get this Jaadu thing working. And finally got it working after plenty reading, ummming and aaaghing.
So I got it working and was using over my local wifi network and it was working perfectly. But then I thought that was it, and that the App wasn't that great. I thought it was just like a much better version of Airmouse.
I just couldn't see how it could possibly work unless on the local network.

So I turned off the Wifi on the phone and tried to connect over 3G.....It couldnt find my network! 'See' I thought to myself, retried it though and BANG there was the screen on the phone over 3G. UNBELIEVABLE.
I didn't (and still don't!) know how WunderRadio does what it does and it's the same for this, but you know what I am not even interested. It works, thats all that matters.

I got excited and tried to see what I could do, tried to watch a film in VLC (stupidly!) but no sound duh! I could see the picture but was choppy and colour problems, no biggie. Then I thought, no sound, ok...........TVU for the footy!! Live streaming on the iPhone...I think I began to dribble. ;D
But, it didn't really work, I got the pic but it was too choppy, I don't know if it was because I was connected two ways ie; laptop to internet for TVU and Laptop to iPhone (if that makes sense?!?). I will try it again though, if it doesn't work, no matter, was a good idea though!

But I still can't belive I can be anywhere and start a download, encode it and burn it. Its getting stupid!
