Remember in about 1983/84ish, all my mates were getting spectrums, with shoeboxes full of games and my parents bought me this...An Aquarius computer made by Mattel.  :(

I was gutted. You could only get about 4 games for it and nobody else owned one to swap with.

This was probably my favourite.

Tron. Exciting stuff.

My cousin gave me a commodore Vic 20 a couple of years later which was much better.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but sometimes I abuse the privilege

Just looking through Google images at the Commodore 64 games, fuck what a blast from the past that was.

Some of the games I remember well but had totally forgotten about .

Swear that Cricket game (Graham Gooch I think ?) used to let you believe that you were controlling the shots when  really you weren't.

Alex Kid was a fucking irritating piece of shit. A torrid Mario Clone that had irritating controls, irritating music and an irritating protagonist.

Yes, thats what I had too. Amstrad cpc464 :) The free games you got were great, well the 2 I remember. Fruit Machine and Harrier Jump Jet (or something like that). My mate (;)) used to go to Woolworths buy a game, going home and 'tape to tape' it, and then return it for cash back ;D

Ordered this today

After finding my old console collection consisting of

Master System
SNES
N64
Dreamcast
PS1 (old style chipped to play copied games)
PS2 (looking into getting it chipped)

My Summer project is to wire them all up and get a retro gaming room set up in the spare room

Unbelievably jealous.

Still got my brother's Dreamcast, my ZX spectrum and my Sega Saturn in the loft. Got the Saturn out a while back and it still works, the Spectrum is borked and the Dreamcast lacking a vital cable (forget which).

Mostly gutted I sold my Megadrive and Gamecube at car bootys years ago when I needed cash, and also incredibly annoyed I lent my brother my N64 and controllers, then he split up with his bird and left it in her house as her kid was a Nintendo fan. Fucker had my limited edition Zelda bonus disc with all the old games on, think it was a Gamecube one I lent him to play on his Wii.
get thee to the library before the c*nts close it down

I'll post my setup when I have a second but at the moment my collection stands at:

1 x Sega Mega Drive which I've modded with a 50/60hz switch, language switch and overclocked with a 10Mhz crystal oscillator
1 x N64 with the RAM expansion
1 x Dreamcast & VMUs - Had this had a Nintendo badge on it, and the Nintendo development team behind it, I think it would have been regarded as the greatest console ever now.
1 x Early version Playstation 2 - plans to region mod this
1 x Black Gamecube - Becoming really difficult to find games in charity shops and thrift stores for the GC - which makes me think that the market may become strong for this in the future.
1 x PSOne - Totally pointless purchase as the PS2 is backward compatible, but it was on sale in Cash Converters' window for a fiver and is absolutely mint. Don't think it's ever been played.
1 x DMG-01 Gameboy - Restored and re-heated the screen connectors to remove ghost lines. Bleached the case to remove the small amount of yellowing that had developed. Might do the capacitors.
1 x Gameboy Pocket
1 x Gameboy Advance SP AGS-001
1 x Gameboy Advance - there is a relatively fiddly mod for this, where you can use an old DSi backlight to illuminate the screen. I have suitably broken DSi somewhere so may do this next week.
2 x Sega Game Gear - about to strip these and use the best parts from each to make a near-mint example. Need to fit new capacitors to the MB.
1 x VIP Pre-launch Original DS

And to play the consoles on? A broadcast-quality Sony Trinitron CRT - KX14-CP1 - great thing about it, is that it can accept NTSC signals and as you can, a wide range of inputs.

Still on the hunt for a mint-condition SNES but they're so difficult to find at a good price and with their cream white case still un-yellowed. The early consoles were blighted by a poor manufacturing process which added a Bromine compound to the plastic which is UV-sensitive. Therefore, every time you played the SNES in daylight it would get gradually yellower.

The problem is, that the older it is, the rarer it is, but 99% of those rare models are almost fluorescent yellow.

Fuckin' ell, you cleaned that SNES via the method of showers of golden or what?

I never had a proper games console as a kid, but we had this bad boy...TV Sports, a Pong clone. It was a bit shite in fairness.

My mate had an Atari and I was constantly over in his house trying to get a game of Tanks on it.

I bought one of these back in 1995, Canon BN22 Notebook with built in printer, the dog's bollocks in it's day.

Ink cartridges were pretty steep as I remember and didn't last long. Mine was only black & white,  a couple of months after I'd got mine they brought out a full colour printer.

Still got it  :)

Here is the beginning of getting the setup together

Hardware wise the consoles are all in great working order. The SNES is in really good nick. No yellowing at all.

Its the wires that need work. The RF cables for the SNES and N64 dont work so have ordered new AV phono connectors for them so they run through the AV switch box.

The Master System needs a new mains adapter as the old one looks like its on its last legs.

So this has become a bit of an addiction. Added a Sinclair spectrum to the collection.

Also bought in a duel console that plays SNES and NES games

Plan for the summer is to try to find an old school CRT TV, mod my mastersystem to an AV connection to eliminate the RF Aerial (currently running 4 aerial in through a single TV) and get an 8 port AV switch box.

If you go up this page a bit mate, you'll see my retrogaming monitor. It's absolutely sensational - I've been through loads of them and it's by far the best. You can play NTSC devices through it too, without having to put it through a converter.

My house is getting overrun with the stuff at the moment. Saving up for a Turbografx now and a Point Blank! Arcade cabinet.

Looks like a great TV. Trouble for me is finding one local for a decent price (not looking to spend a lot of money for a TV when most are just looking to get rid of them). Just keeping my eye out on gumtree and ebay

What was the windows before 95? My dad got that PC and was the first one I used when he was at work. When he came home from London He would sit me on his lap and write a story on the word processor adding more each night. I remember three dark knights on horseback always a couple of new paragraphs before bed. I loved it until While fucking around on the computer i password protected it and forgot the password and cried for days ;D

I remember some PGA golf game with graphics similar to the Commodores but they must have been slightly better because this would have been early 90's. I was crap at it but my old man was awesome.

Also had Asteroid where you span around in your space ship and tried to shoot other shapes .

The first block breaker i remember was called aquanoid. Even downloaded an emulator the other day and played it again. Reinstalled windows recently so need to download it again. So addictive.

The first proper game I had bought for me was Terminator 2. Remember always failing on the motorcycle mission. My mate had it as well so that was a great reminiscing session.

Also was never allowed a SNES or a mega drive so played them at families houses. Dad once bought me a Mario game for the PC but it was a demo and only had two rooms and I spent ages trying to find the next level but there wasn't one :lmao

So yeah a bit after the Commodores but still brought back memories all the same [emoji2]

Think 3.1 got an upgrade to 3.11 so could have been that, I had a computer based on a 386 (may have been 486?) architecture which was basically in an old server case.  Heavy as anything.

I've signed up for the Windows 10 upgrade but I think I'm going to wait 6 months before installing it, I'm just really not convinced it'll be as free as they're saying.
