Can't ever remember a cull like this, regarding coaching & medical staff leaving. To hardly have any staff left after 9 years, is worrying.

The medical department arguably needs an overhaul. Last couple of years have been a joke with injury and fitness issues and players breaking down with the same injury when they come back.

When a manager leaves the coaches going with them is fairly routine.

Does he? He might just want the owners to more consistently do what made us brilliant in the first place -ie bringing people (players and staff) into the club, recruiting absolutely brilliantly. Now that Klopp is going and it turns out we’ve wasted the last opportunity for 2 more seasons of top end success (top end because obviously we have won something in the last 2 years) with him by failing to buy any CMs and then forcing an entirely self inflicted midfield rebuild and transition year as a result it seems fair enough to lament some of that.

It's so fucking easy to say in hindsight that we should have replaced the midfield after 21/22, but no one was calling for a mass overhaul at the time. And I'm sure that very much includes Klopp himself given that he went out of his way to get Henderson a new contract.

In an ideal world, Klopp would have signed Tchouameni that summer and that would have been that. Do you think that alone would have won us anything more than we have over the last two seasons? The answer is no.

Yeah Bren is darkly hilarious, reminds me a bit of Bricktop from Snatch. Shouldn't be laughing at some of the things he says and does, but can't help it.

I’m in the same boat concerning his need for a break as he looks physically and emotionally drained.

Completely different circumstances I know but look back to how Kenny looked when he resigned after the 4-4.

I’m sad but accepting and looking forward to the next step on our journey.

The thing as well is when you get that level of burn out it'll effect your decision making. Kenny recognised it, Rafa probably had it in his last year as well with all the shit he'd had to deal with.

As i've said a lot, I think Klopp had had enough last season but stuck it out because he didn't want to leave us in the shit, out the CL and needing a total rebuild. He agreed to give it another year and see which is why we had stop gaps like Ibiza Jorge. He's got us back in the CL, started the rebuild, brought more young players through and with the notice period given it's given us a chance to get things sorted off the pitch and in the dugout for the summer and next season.

Managers don't usually leave with a huge send off last game and with things in a good place. Rodgers was sacked. Kenny was sacked last time. Hodgson was sacked. Rafa was sacked. Houllier was sacked. Evans was sacked. Souness was sacked. Kenny left suddenly in the middle of the season which we didn't really recover from through the 90s. We don't want  a last season at Dortmund situation, but in a way we had that last season and Klopp has managed to come back from that and get things back on track. 19/20 - great, 20/21 - a lot went wrong, 21/22 - great, 22/23 - a lot went wrong, 23/24 - a lot better. Klopp not being as fresh probably part of those two recent bad seasons that followed good ones. We wouldn't want another one.

Centre-backs aged 21 and less (1000+ mins) with the highest percentage of defensive duels won in Europe's top 5 leagues this season by Wyscout:

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Jarell Quansah - 78,6%
🇲🇦Chadi Riad - 77,7%
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Jarrad Branthwaite - 76%
🇪🇸Cristhian Mosquera - 75,6%
🇫🇷Maxime Estève - 71,9%
🇫🇷Castello Lukeba - 71,8%
🇫🇷Leny Yoro - 70,8%
🇪🇸Pau Cubarsí - 70,8%
🇷🇴Radu Drăgușin - 70,3%
🇨🇮Abakar Sylla - 67,3%
🇪🇸Rafa Marín - 67,2%

So his English compatriot the highly rate  Branthwaite has pretty similar figures but plays in a low block team, hence won’t be inviting counter attacks as we do.

He’s been a revelation but with the imperfections you’d expect from a young CB.

Looking for hotels round The Crucible, have looked on Trivago etc & they already seem silly prices, even 11+ months before the 2025 Championship. I guess the hotel chains have a captive audience for those 2wks.

Suppose can travel in each day, but don't know that area of Yorkshire that well.

I stayed here, wasnt too expensive at all and its about a 2-3 min walk to the crucible tops

You are correct.

Messi laid it on a plate for him and when Dembele failed to score, Messi dropped to the ground in utter disbelief. I think in that moment Messi had a bit of an inkling of what's to come in the second thread ...
By the time of the match, they were cocksure. Suarez was talking about what he'd do if he scored, how he expected applause from the home fans - and didn't he and Messi pose for a social media photo beforehand? It reminded me of the Marca headline before the 4-0 drubbing we gave to Real. Underestimate Anfield at your peril.
