Remember him talking of her in his documentary, the part about his boss at rangers talking shit about her, he always regretted not smacking him and as far as I remember he used that as fuel to beat them into the ground with Aberdeen.

Long story short she was much more than the love of his life so I’m sure he’ll be in pieces and very sad.

Awfully sad news. I find comfort that they were able to enjoy ten years together post-Ferguson's retirement after spending so much time committed to what must have been such a tasking responsibility. Condolences to Alex and the whole family.

Work in health care and see the affect this has on the elderly that have been married for over 50 years etc and have their significant other taken from them. Must be awful.

Condolences to the family and RIP Cathy.

rip to Cathy Ferguson. Imagine being without your partner of so many years. My grandad never recovered when my Nan passed away.

Yes, this is very common and very sad for the one that is left behind.

Some time ago, My uncle was hospitalised and it didn’t look good. This traumatised my Aunty so much that she was hospitalised. Both were in coma’s and she die a few days before him. He never knew that she had died.

They were together 50 years.

When you hear about this happening it always makes me think of them and what happened.

RIP Cathy

Huge loss for the family, especially for her husband after so long together.

At the same time though, a massive blessing for them both that their relationship was so lengthy

RIP.

I have no idea how they lived their lives, but it wouldn't surprise me to know she was the unsung heroine behind the man.

To be able to hold the fort and support someone so devoted to his career.

Most people would never achieve the heights of their ambitions/passions, without the unwavering support from their partner.
