The mancs wrapping Sabitzer up in a day and we stick with this goon. Should have got rid and tried for Sabitzer. Same ball park wages surely. Recruitment team on it's arse, numerous staff serving notices. Calamitous.

I don't think we should've got him in, but it's not really Melo's fault he's injured.  And we can't just terminate a year long loan and stop paying those wages.
Sit down, shock is better taken with bent knees.

As I've said before on this thread, I do feel quite sorry for him. He was obviously trying very hard to get himself fit. Just unfortunate that he got injured in the way that he did. Can't fault the lad for trying.

It had Aquilani written all over it, at least we're not saddled with the player on a long contract.

He's a decent player but had he managed to stay fit he's not the player that would have made any real difference given the way things have gone. he's the kind of player who will give you a solid 6-7 out of a 10 in a well functioning team.

What exactly is wrong with him, and is he expected back any time this season?

Torn thigh, supposed to be back to team training in a couple of weeks so we could see him towards the end of the month. It'd be nice if he could get some involvement around the time the CL games roll around so we can rotate Thiago a bit, though I'm not confident on that CL run lasting particularly long right now so he might not end up being needed too much.

This was a bizarre loan from the start. It didn't make any sense at the time other than being desperate to get someone.

Never really rated him that highly and with his injury record it's not a surprise what's happened here.

Nice conclusion to come to on a loan signing that hasn't played a game yet.

I said that earlier, there is a decent player there and some of his clips show what a player he could be if his head is right. Problem is, the team is low in confidence and the expectation on him might be too high which doesn't bode too well for him.

He wouldn't but he's not really the type of player we're crying out for. He's just another midfielder on our books who needs legs around them, rather than providing them himself.

Another one that, even if he makes the first team will inevitably enter the same cycle of 'he's great! - he's injured! - he's feeling his way back! - he needs legs around him - he's great! - he's injured!" as all the rest.
Beatings will continue until morale improves...

I'm willing to bet good. money that we don't ever see him start a game for us. A few 15 minute cameos here and there is all I'm expecting. He might be an okay player, but he doesn't fix any of our issues.

I know that sounds harsh. It's not his fault obviously.

It's not surprising he's been left out, but thought he might have featured there, anyone know in who's place? Keita?

The league and top 4 will be a struggle, so not sure what his role would be now for the remainder of the season. Get him fit for Juventus?

He was an excellent player and as close to Thiago as we have in the squad, so even if he gets minutes to let Thiago get the rest he needs then he will be very useful.

He was signed as a Thiago understudy (and while he was injured to cover for him). Thankfully Thiago has stayed fit since he came back at least but if he can do 15-20 minutes off the bench at least then he comes in useful. Especially when Jones can't stay fit either.

In reality the fact he's left out the CL squad (when we knew he'd be back for Madrid) says a lot about where he stands in the pecking order.

We aren't far from a full complement of players, and definitely a fully fit set of CMs to pick from. Hopefully the competition for places will mean that we see a significant improvement in quality. That being said, who of the top 4 teams would take any of our CMs? Hopefully also means that the likes of Fabinho, Thiago and Hendo can get adequate rest and rotation to finish the season strongly.
