Big time Charlie, 1 of the English Prems 1st manufactured footballers, Beckham came after him, limited abilty just flashy moves and the odd goal curtisy of being in a good team and protected by modern whistle happy refs. DONT EVEN MENSION HIM IN THE SAME BREATH AS DALGLISH/BARNES/FOWLER/KEEGAN/GERRARD. The guys a knob simple as!

tremendous first post.

mcmoneyman a grade A twat.

Maybe not, but a legend all the same.  The term 'legend' doesn't just apply to our top 11 players.

mcmoneyman a grade A twat.

He used the then novelty 'Bosman' to move on.  A 'pioneer', many a fellow pro would call him.  Can't really blame him for going, but his later performances smacked of not caring, but that could have been due to internal wrangling.

I would class him as 'could have done better', but even Robbie falls into that category, due to his latter years.  Summed up that era really.

A travesty of a sham of a mockery.

What, like Kenny Dalglish? Or John Barnes? Frankly, "legends" should have won more than 1 League Cup while at Liverpool.

Cant agree with that statement at all to be honest.

I think achieving "legendary status" is irrelevant to silverware won.

We have ex players with a helluva lot more medals that carra for instance, does that make them more of a legend than him?

I think becoming a legend is more to do with yer attitude towards the club, and commitment shown on the pitch than to do with medals won.

Fowler never won a league title with us, nor a European Cup, but hs'e still a legend.

He achieved this status through more than just performances.

It was partially the taunting of leSaux, support of the miners, snorting the goal line, and 4 / 5 fingered salutes to mancs

INTERNET TERRORIST. AND PROUD TOO.

It was partially the .....support of the miners
What, in '84?  Blimey, the bloke goes up in my estimation every day.  9 years old and getting involved in industrial disputes...cap doffed and no mistake.

Yeah, just posted that in the 'after-game' thread. "We shouldn't be talking about this protest, they've come in and put money into the club, why don't the fans just let them get on with things?".

Agree with that. He's always been blue, through and through.

Good player for us; total gobshite.

Has always been amongst the most vocals of people slagging us in the press. Was urging Owen to leave us years before he did. Bet little Micky is glad he took the advice.......

Is it just me or does anybody else get easily annoyed by the man, every time i see him he makes me cringe.

And after some recent outbursts in the media i hate the man even more.

Anyways i just wanted to see the opinion amongst us reds and see if you people share the same opinion as me i.e. "shut up and go away, you waste of time big time charlie wannabe" or do you class him as a legend.

Obviously the way he left this fantastic club of ours wasn't the best, however when he was here i'll be honest and say i never thought much of him them.

Seriously?  I never knew that.
I was really taken aback that he was so openly hostile to the fans.  I assumed it was just coz he's a special adviser to one of the new owners (can't remember who).  I didnt realise he had form.
It's a shame; I met him years ago, and thought he was a decent bloke.

Yes mate; don't you remember, for one thing him and Ged fell out big time over him shooting his mouth off in the press.

Wouldn't surprise me if Ged banned him from all the hospitality etc at Anfield.

Not a legend but he carried us for the best part of half a decade pretty much alone at times (along with Fowler and later Owen). Then got fucked over by the club by way of thanks.

Bit of both in fairness, always left with the feeling he could have achieved more than he did though I think did pretty well for both us and Real where he won a CL title and a couple of spanish titles too. Maybe it was his stop start international career  that leaves people feeling he could have made more of himself

But would say this 'hating of old/current LFC players because they left us or thought about leaving us' leaves me cold. Bit Evertonian for my taste...these people want to further their career, have a change of scenery or try out new cultures, it's the same in all walks of life, would have preferred it if it was with us for sure but people cant be macheted to the wall because they have ambitions in their profession that we may well not have been in a position to provide  :-X
