Looking forward to penalties myself. Especially to see Ashley Young dive over the ball, saying it made 'contact' and appealing for a penalty.

This overachieving must have been going on for quite some time then. They keep winning trophies. Neither us or Spurs have won one in years. They might play boring football but they are nowhere near as bad as most on this forum seem to believe.
They are not 'bad' at all. They are very good at what they do which is to grind out wins. It does sadden me to see such dire stuff get regular rewards though.

Tell you one thing though, with Keita and hopefully another midfielder or two, really wanna see our midfield passing like Sevilla's next year.

So crisp.

We could of done with this ref. Not falling for the theatrics and giving free kicks that are actually free kicks.

Sevilla have had 8 shots, but only one on target, while United have had 3 shots, with 2 on target. United look the most likely to score a goal so far, on those numbers. But if Sevilla can get a goal, the game changes, as United would have to create more shots, and be really clinical with them too.

They play the same football their own fans were not long ago labelling a disgrace when other sides set up against them in the exact same fashion

10 men behind the ball, lump it up to a big man and look for knock downs. All while diving and trying to con the ref, its embarassing

It has been ever thus, in football. Goals win leagues, but defences win cups, and we haven't been defensive in a long, long time.

PoP was it you or someone else who posted about how Route 1 Football in England at least is more effective and thus more commonly used.

Thus why it is harder to develop technical players? Wasn't there a study or data behind that too?

I agree completely.

I’m just saying they’re still very effective at winning matches and trophies.

They are a joke of a team, if they sham their way into the quarters I hope they get Bayern or Madrid next. Though they’ll probably get Roma/Shaktar.

If they get through, the sooner they face Man City, the better.

Doesn't sound like me, but I think it's definitely more prevalent, so it works more in England because more teams use it at all levels.

However - most goals are still scored from 3 passes or less, so Route 1 works by default :D
