I think that option is still a bit too messy. Which of these is Garrincha's equivalent, for example -

Botafogo

International Quadrangular Tournament: 1954
State Championship: 1957, 1961, 1962

International Tournament in Costa Rica: 1961

I would either go with option 2 or tweak it slightly to *Played and lost in a final of a European Cup or UEFA Cup/Europa League* (so the player could have won it, but must have been a loser at least once). Also, how about some love for the Cup Winner's Cup? That would stretch the pool a bit further as well.

I'm with BB regarding South American equivalent. I've always liked the idea of it being a pure losers draft and seeing what comes out. Where you put the cut off I don't care but no winners please. There's only 10 of us so we can make it quite restricted

Yep, Losers draft has a great ring to it too. That or the Bridesmaids (AKA Hazell) draft.

This is the best and simplest idea so far. This way you can easily research players via the various finals too.
